2011 Organizational Rankings: #11 – San Francisco | FanGraphs Baseball

Considering the criteria for these rankings, I do think the Giants should be higher, but not by too much (maybe 7th ahead of TOR, MIN, TEX, and COL.) It's not the rankings that make him a douchebag, because a few of their authors collaborated on them, it's the whole "I don't care if they won the World Series, they're still not good because I said so," tone that makes him a douchebag. Does anybody else feel this way or is it just me?

That's Dave. The petitio princippi is strong in this one. Dr.B. in the comment section said it best:

Dr.B. said:
I agree. When BA ranks them #23 they do so with a disclaimer that they get credit for recently graduating Posey and Bumgarner and that the system will likely rebound in the near future. That comment by Dave showed the kind of sloppy, snarky analysis we’ve all come to know him so well for around here. I think Dave is likely still smarting a bit over last year’s #24 ranking for the Giants and can’t quite get past it.[/QOUTE]

I halfway expected this thread to be about nolan no-sense (especially his 2 strike bloopers = mental lapse theory, smh)

Seems like every critique of the Giants has to begin "I know they won BUT.."

whatever. I'll take a 11 place ranking and a ring :)

+1. I expected this thread to be about this as well.

As for Cameron, I generally like his work. He's still trying to justify his #24 ranking from last year. Here's the deal: I think 11 is a bit low, but in all fairness the Zito and RoRo contracts are awful and debilitating, so the FO has to take a hit for those. I'd expect as we move forward to next year, the Giants will be in the top 5 as Belt blossoms, and guys like Wheeler, Peguero, and Brown move up the system.

I'm really starting to feel like we're becoming the Red $ox west without the ridiculous payroll. We should contend every year and have the cash to sign Timmy, Chez, Cainer, Bum, Weez, Posey and Belt as they become free agents. Just two more years of RoRo's contract (and I'd guess he'll be traded as soon as Sabes can find a taker) and 3 years plus a buyout for Zito. Other than that, Sabes has really learned not to give big contracts for FAs.

The hidden good news about Belt is that if he emerges as we expect and contends for ROY, we cannot possibly be a player in Pujolsmania next offseason.

Essentially, my team is the World Champion and set up to contend for the foreseeable future. Life is pretty fucking good. :peace:
