Are there any names in the NBA today as good as Tree Rollins? I strongly doubt it.

I wonder how the EC would’ve been affected if Len Bias had lived. I recall Bird stated he would’ve retired earlier soon had Bias worked out.
That’s the biggest “what if” from my childhood. Bias looked like he was going to be a legit superstar. Everyone seemed to think so. The Celtics didn’t just lose him, but also Reggie Lewis who was an all-star type in his own right. The Celtics weren’t able to reload the talent as Bird-Parish-McHale aged out. Bias could have reversed the whole process on his own.

Kareem is not the example you want.

He was highly skilled and he could move his feet. If he grew up in today’s era you don’t think he would be able to shoot the 3?

My guess is Kareem would be a more athletic Jokic if he played today. Might even be more dominant.

Guys like Shaq would be hurt by modern rules.

Hakeem, Kareem, David Robinson, Ewing etc would still be great players. Because they were skilled enough to be focal points of an offense while also being forces defensively (maybe not so much Ewing on that one).
Could move his feet but he wasn’t quick on them that’s why he perfected the hook

Something didn't sound right about the Bulls so I looked some info up.

They weren't a threat in '86, finished 8th.

They didn't become a force in the east until '87-'88. Finished 3rd and that was MJ's first above .500 season and Pippen's rookie year.

But you brought back alotta memories with your comment. I remember all those good teams and players from the 80's. And yes I still hate Showtime.

I don't like you!

Gotta say though they were exciting to watch.

Still say your Lakers cheated in '85 and '87 though. :heh:

I did a whole thread on great NBA names and he’s on there for sure. Today the names aren’t as fun but there’s a couple. Giannis Antetokoumpo, Bol Bol, Ja Morant, Victor Wembanyama, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Bam Adebayo

Yeah, the nicknames of yesteryear were definitely more fun. I liked Dr. Dunkenstein.

Right in my wheelhouse. I actually know all these guys. Your previous list looked like a bunch of good scrabble names to me and little else.

You seem like one of those types where only the stuff they grew up on has value.

Probably would have cost the Lakers those last 2 titles in the 80's. I think the Celtics would have won in '86-'87 and they likely beat Detroit and then win the '87-'88 title.

Lakers might have still gotten '86-'87 with him being a rookie, but doubt they get '87-'88.

Side note...I met Len Bias' mom Lonise a few years after that. Neat lady. Turned that tragedy into a way to help others.
