True.

They also got rid of terrible salary for the going rate of future firsts

I forgot how bad the salary the Celtics took back was
I guess I stuck around for a bit after that trade because I remember watching when Kris Humphries was on the team and all the chants were directed at him for being a loser on the Kardashian show.

I don’t think anyone would argue playoff sports are better in all sports
Sure... but (for instance) I don't hear as much complaining about how awful the NFL regular season is.

So it's not just that playoffs is better than regular season generally across all sports... it's the belief that there's a wider gulf between the two in the NBA.

17 games vs 82

Want to make the regular season games meaningful?

Reduce the schedule by half.

Then the games will matter a lot more.

Yeah what tlance said. NFL games are rare so they all matter to fans and players. The gap between playoff baseball vs regular season is even wider than the NBA. Just the nature of the sports

I actually disagree on your baseball point... I don't think there's a stigma/belief about how crappy regular season baseball is compared to the stigma/belief that regular season NBA is crappy.

For real? Many people will say they can’t even watch any regular season baseball and only in the playoffs where every pitch matters is it watchable at all. Depends on who we talk to I guess.

In the ATL... the Braves are a lesser sort of religion.

Folks just like going to (or watching) a game to hang out, sip a brew... it's as much a cultural thing as active entertainment.

I think baseball overall is kind of a different breed. For many baseball fans, the slower nature of it is what makes it "good".

Anywho... no use going round and round on this point... I don't think it's possibly to 'prove' or demonstrate one way or the other.

You are clearly permanently attached to LeBrons sack, good for you, but I did not say anything about Lecrybaby and back to backs. I just will not watch any game he is in, I dont watch sports center because he is on there even when the Lakers do not play. The flops, the travels, the crybaby from a NFL Defensive end playing against 215 pounders just disgusts me.

Can you show us on the doll where Lebron touched you?

That’s fair. But it wasn’t just a 2 team league back then. The Sixers were loaded(Moses Malone, Barkley, Mo Cheeks, Andrew Toney). So were the Pistons. The Bucks were trouble. The Rockets were usually pretty good. Jordan’s Bulls were on the way up. There were a lot of other great players like Kiki Vandeweghe, George Gervin, Adrian Dantley, Alex English etc…. That was a fun era. You are right that I’m particularly lucky to have been a kid watching those Celtics teams, though. I didn’t know how good I had it.

Yeah, a lot of folks see how many times the Celtics and Lakers made it to the finals and just assume that they were each running through their conference unchallenged until they met in the finals. As you point out, there were a lot of really good teams...the difference between those 2 and everyone else was the Lakers had Magic and the Celtics had Bird...

You put either of them on any of the other teams you mentioned, and those teams likely have a similar run.

Yes! The Celtics had to run through those loaded Sixers teams every year, but the Pistons with Isiah Thomas, Laimbeer, Mahorn, Vinnie Johnson etc…were REALLY good. The Bucks had Sidney Moncrief, Terry Cummings and Jack Sikma and were impossible to beat in their building. And, of course, Jordan’s Bulls were a real threat by around ‘86. Jordan almost beat one of the best teams of all-time that year by himself. The East was pretty loaded in those days. You are right that Bird was the difference-maker.

This exercise is making me nostalgic. Now I couldn’t even name a single player on the Sixers, Bucks or Bulls. Back then I knew basically every player on every team.

Bulls were not a real threat until the Celtics were done winning.

Celtics were rapidly winding down by 1989ish as Bird’s injuries started to add up. Meanwhile, the Bulls were on the rise. It was really the Pistons that most stood in their way at that time.

Something didn't sound right about the Bulls so I looked some info up.

They weren't a threat in '86, finished 8th.

They didn't become a force in the east until '87-'88. Finished 3rd and that was MJ's first above .500 season and Pippen's rookie year.

But you brought back alotta memories with your comment. I remember all those good teams and players from the 80's. And yes I still hate Showtime.

considering the Golden State Warrior are the leaders in the no back to back schedule, I am pretty sure it is a problem amongst the players in the league.

So you will probably stop watching, and I will start watching again when Lebaby is gone.

Who do you hate, hate, hate more LeBron or terrorists?

I wonder how the EC would’ve been affected if Len Bias had lived. I recall Bird stated he would’ve retired earlier soon had Bias worked out.

Yeah, this is a looooong time ago so my memory ain’t so good. I was remembering the game Jordan scored 63 against the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs. I didn’t realize that the Bulls were the number 8 seed that year and that the Celtics won the series 3-0. I felt like they had more trouble with the Bulls in those days. In your face, MJ!!!

I must add that I totally forgot to include the Hawks(led by Dominique Wilkins) in those days. They were no slouch!! Tree Rollins, baby!!
