Refusing to play and the team making a decision to sit a guy out are completely different. Outside of Embiid please show me any other player saying they won’t play back to backs?

Either way it is a problem for the product

And also outside of guys with injury history aka klay or kawhi, you can’t even find a situation where a player sat out every back to back. People on here are just lying

Again, you’re trying to be obtuse on this

Healthy players sitting out is the problem

Thats how it was addressed

Lord management bs

It is not, no freekin way

Biggest reason is leflop

That show put on during the all star game, puke, was orchestrated by leflop himself, and it was brutal, and pretty much sums up the NBA. All show, no blow!

The talent is better, no doubt, but the game itself, does not match that talent

If you can shoot the 3, you’re in

Would Kareem be the same player today?
The biggest issue is the last 2 minutes of the game taking forever to complete:

Free throw-foul-timeout-foul-free throw-replay review-foul-timeout-foul-free throw etc…

It’s just an endless slog. Who watches this shit in real time without DVR? It would seem to be an impossible task. lol.

I would love to add the Elam ending to pro and college ball

I still can’t get over seeing the 7 foot guy standing 25 feet from the hoop popping 3’s. In my day, that guy was stationed under the net to rebound. I just looked and Robert Parish only ATTEMPTED 6 three-pointers in his entire career(he missed them all). And he played for almost 100 years. Now he would probably attempt that many every night.

They would also pass the ball around the interior looking for the best/open shot. Now they just pass until they locate the best 3 point attempt. And it’s a brick 60% of the time, and you have to pretend that it’s exciting seeing so many missed shots.
Chucking up threes is lazy shit.

Excellent post.

Until Lebron retires ??? So you think the NBA will do better when he is gone ??

I just dont see how the NBA will be better without him. I know many said the same thing about Magic and Bird but then MJ came. After MJ it was Kobe. After Kobe ,its been Lebron. After Lebron , ???????

^ This is fair... but at the same time, it's equally true that in "old school" basketball you could get some low scoring games where physical defense is causing a lot of ugly misses and such... causing an arguably "boring" game as a result.

So... there's no perfect "brand" to avoid such outcomes.
Long misses are boring.

Short misses are still exciting because of all the action that has to take place to get a closer shot and then the action after it. It's all happening in and around the paint. Fun to watch.

Yeah you clearly haven’t watched nba recently at all also how is this any different than football teams calling timeouts to stop the clock in the last 3 minutes

Back to backs are a worse product. Both teams have no gas or one team has no gas. It's just a lame money grab because they want to fill all the nights of a week. It doesn't make the games better.

Football is a stop and go sport. Basketball is a flow game. Silly to compare.

Then don’t watch lol there is a real simple solution here. If I don’t like a sport then I simply don’t watch

Timeouts been a part of basketball for as long as it’s been around. This isn’t soccer or baseball

Soccer is a flow sport . Baseball is not.

Your cluelessness is starting to derail a good thread. Lol

To be fair, bigs today who shoot the 3 can actually hit the 3. Back then, the 3 was pretty new and even guards weren't hitting it at a very high rate. On the Showtime Lakers, Michael Cooper was the "3 point shooter" but he only hit 34% while taking an average of 1.4 per game.

Heck as great a shooter as Larry Bird was, he it 38% of his 3's but only averaged 1.9 attempts per game.

Compare that to Dirk Nowitzki who also hit 38% from 3 and averaged 4 shots per game.

I saw an interview with Kareem where he was asked if he would shoot the 3 if he played today and he said, "I'd have to". Imagine what his scoring record might have been if he shot the 3 like Dirk.

I'm not a huge fan of the 3, but it is a legit weapon. I just wish players/teams had a little more discretion with it.
