A new report today says the Rangers have interest in acquiring Shin-Soo Choo. Choo is under contract next season for 4.9 Million. He's always been a very underrated player in my opinion. It goes on to say that the Rangers are looking to add an impact left-handed bat and that the Indians are reluctant to part with Choo. They would want a pitcher in return. Thoughts? Choo has 25/25 potential with a good average.

I'm betting the rangers have abandoned their interest in shields and Johnson and rightfully so. Both team's are asking way too much for starters that haven't been that good this year. Ogando will stretch out and they'll look for a relief pitcher and a quality bat. Sometimes the best deals are the ones you don't make.

I never understood the Johnson possibility anyway. The guy missed all of last year and no one knows exactly why....no definite reason was ever given as to what was wrong with his arm, which is enough to scare any team away. Then to add to it, he has had a pretty crappy season and you have even more reason to think something is wrong with this guy. I would rather stick with what we have than to trade prospects for a guy who is definitely not right.

I think Johnson and Shields are out too. I think the only way we trade for a starter is if Philly switches course and wants to dump Lee's salary. I'd be ok with that if they picked up part of the tab. Otherwise, I agree it's going to be sticking to what we already have in terms of starters and just adding a reliever and/or bat.

A lot can change though by Tuesday. Some teams might suddenly decide to make players available or the asking price on others might come way down.

The Indians want a good major league player with less than three years of service time. Why not offer Borbon. He can be a goo major leaguer that we just don't really need.

I just don't see what purpose Broxton serves, he's not going to be the closer and might not be happy about being displaced as a closer

He might be happy to be on a team intent on making the playoffs. But the more I thought about it Lowe and scheppers would be too much IMO.

If that were the case the rangers would be still in it. Price must be extremly high!

Yes Way to much Scheppers and Lowe can be just as good. adding him would just make our bullpen deeper.

From Scott Lucas' farm report today ...

@ Frisco ...

Mitch Moreland was 0-4 with a strikeout.

Rehabbing Mark Lowe ranged from 92 to 96 MPH on a scout’s gun. He struck out two of four batters but allowed a towering (if not exceptionally long) solo homer to Edinson Rincon.
