I agree. Allen is more important to his team.
As far as Dickerson not winning it.
Wasnt that the Year Marino made his records as well? 48 TDs back then was unheard of.
If Marino had come along today, 7000 yards wouldn't be out of the question. The guy was so far ahead of anyone else it wasn't funny

Yeah you even said that, sorry my reading comprehension skills are lacking today…you know, more than other days.
No sweat Bro, lol. Allen is the clear winner within the way it's done, that team would be floundering like the Cowboys if not for him. I just meant if it were REALLY most valuable, is anyone trading Mahomes for Barkley? Mahomes for Lamar?

Lol if we ever traded Mahomes it'd be like chopping the head off a fire breathing dragon. For that kinda insanity I'd be tempted to give Clark Hunt a 10 minute beat down...

I think an argument can be made for Lamar, talent wise he’s right there and I think he’s refined his pocket passing this season especially.

But until he makes his mark in the playoffs, it’s impossible to refute Mahomes obviously, SB titles are the one thing it becomes nearly impossible to dismiss when talking about success.

But there’s always people that don’t buy into the championships = greatness discussion, you know…some people anyway.

Of course, we’re talking about MVP and not GOAT, man my wires are crossed today, but my point remains to an extent :heh:

Talent yes, but besides the fact that Pat already has 3 rings, if they were starting from zero today, Pat will win more going forward. Add to that he should be able to play several years longer tha. Lamar with their style of play. He is bigger and doesn't take the same hits

Josh Allen (the quarterback for the Bills, not the defensive end for the Jags)

100%. The game was so different then. No such thing as a defenseless receiver, corners could be super physical and QB's took beatings. I remember a Cowboys game against Philly when Aikman was sacked 12 times and he got got 5-6 times that game harder than I've seen any QB today hit all year. HOF QB's couldn't put up numbers like today...but Marino did

Saquon’s season is way more remarkable and historic than Allen‘s or Burrow’s.
Not trying to shit on either of them, they’ve been great, but there’s nothing really historic about either of their seasons - Allen has thrown for 3731 yards and 28 TDs/6 INTs, and has run for 531 yards and 12 TDs, great season but a couple of QBs put up these kinds of numbers every season and Allen is only averaging 233 yards per game passing. Not historic.
Burrow’s season has been closer to historic, 4641 yards passing, 42 TDs/8 INTs, and a 69.8% completion rate, and averaging 290 yards per game. If Burrow throws for 359 in Week 18 he’ll hit 5000 yards which is a great accomplishment. If the Bengals had a better record Burrow would be leading the MVP race IMO but it’s very unlikely they make the playoffs.
Lamar has thrown for 3955 yards, 39 TDs/4 INTs and has run for 852 and 4 TDs, that’s a great season as well, and yeah Henry has had a great season, 1783 rushing yards and 14 TDs, those two being on the same team kind of hurt each other since they are both great.
But Saquon running for 2000 yards is historic, only 9 players ever have done it, and if he gets 101 next week he sets the record. And he’s carried the Eagles O - they are averaging just around 200 passing yards a game, without Saquon I don’t think they make the playoffs as Saquon has opened up some of the passing game as well. So I think Saquon should win MVP.
If the Bengals made the playoffs Burrow would probably win it. I’m pretty sure Allen will win it but he hasn’t had the best season IMO, his numbers aren’t historic, they’re very good but not an all time great season.
I think there are two very good arguments against Saquon.

#1: Eagles oline is the best in football
#2: RBs are more than just runners. Barkley had a great year just under 2,300 all purpose yards in 16 games. Thats pretty close to MVP levels but I think we see this every four or five years.

I don't think it would be crazy if Saquon won but I'd have him 3rd. Honestly its kinda criminal to have him above Burrow but at some point winning does factor in.

I voted Josh Allen because he doesn't have Derrick Henry.

But look at Joe Burrow: 48 Passing TDs + 2 Rushing TDs to only 8 INTs and 4.641 passing yards.

He's been sacked 44 times because his line isn't very good.

The Bengals have the 4th worst scoring defense(26.1 points per game) which means either his offense puts up alot of points or his team loses.
Sadly - this offense puts up a lot of points and STILL loses.

Case in point - Bengals have a stretch of losses by less than 1 TD, where the offense scored nearly 35 points in those games...and lost all of them because the defense was giving up nearly 40 points a game...

I mean - when you score 35+ points in 6 games and lose all of them....that's....I look at the DC and that defense...and I just...

Joe Burrow. I feel pretty confident saying the Bengals would have the Number 1 pick locked in, if he wasn’t there. Also I’m a racist.

You know what makes defenses better? Having a running game.
I'll second this ^^^^^ emotion. Far who makes the running game work in Philly. In the 2nd Skins/Eagles game. Saquon looked like he was gonna run for 400 yards. Hurts got hurt n the Skins defense seriously shut Saquon down. Yeah, the Skins defense. I was shocked as well, maybe it was just an anomaly. In Baltimore is it Henry or Lamar I can't call it, they make a hellified dynamic duo. Both these teams have upper tier run blocking OLs and at present both teams are 1 n 2 in team rushing stats. Regardless if its the QB or the RB ithat make those run games truly work. All 4 of the aforementioned players have contributed significantly to their team;s russhing success.

Coming in at 3 in team rushing stats is the Skins.. Their leading RB is Brian Robinson with 789 yards. Their leading rusher is Jayden Danials with 864 yards. He also leads the team in every significant rushing category, yards per carry, rushing TDs, big runs, rushing first downs.. except for carries. The Skins have a couple good run blocking OLs including OG Sam Cosmi who's a stud, but as a whole. The Skins OL would be Oregon while both Philly and Balt's OLs would be OSU in the first half of the Rose Bowl.

There's no question who makes the Skins running game work. No question at all. Its a very precarious situation though. Every time the kid runs I metaphorically shit on myself. Against Atlanta I thought he got smashed in OT down by the goal line. It remeinded me of Robert Griffin for a sdplit second n how Griffin looked like he got broke in two every time he got hit. Griffin was a brittle fuckin hardhead with an overinflated ego who didn't understand situational football. While Daniels is aware of what's going on at all times, a real team leader and a fuckin baller. They are nothing alike. But it can't last, at least imo. The Skins will go as far as Jayden can take them in the playoffs, but Kingsbury's system is very reliant on a QB who can run and worse yet is more finesse than smash-mouth. It is what it is this year, they can't change up now, But going forward in the future something needs to change. JD is tough and he's smart, he's been sliding more of late and getting out of bounds more as well. But unlike Hurts or Allen who have more of a body type suited for the way they play. Or Lamar who has Henry to do any n all the heavy lifting. JD has been doing the lion's share of work n history has shown us it's gonna catch up with him sooner than later.

He's the Skins MVP no doubt, but not of the NFL. He has the ROTY on lock though.

Easy answer. Lamar Jackson or Barkley.

I'd throw Burrow in the mix as well because he leads a ton of categories and his team is hot garbage outside of Chase/Hedrickson/Higgins.

That said, Lamar is leading a bunch of categories as well and won the division, so it should go to him. Mahomes hasn't had a bad season, but not MVP worthy. I dunno why so many people are voting Allen. Again a good season, but pales in comparison to what Jackson/Burrow did.

There used to be a time when rushing for 2K yards (Barkley did it in 16 games, so it counts) basically guaranteed you MVP... but it's such a QB driven league these days, I dunno if Barkley will get it. Lamar is the NFLs big money maker at this point... Barkley will prob. be injured next year lol.
