I have no idea if this is a good hiring. But I'm surprised they went with a first time head coach. Hard to see how Lebron won't walk all over him.
You mean like how he walked all over Ty Lue?

Worked with Ty LueI have no idea if this is a good hiring. But I'm surprised they went with a first time head coach. Hard to see how Lebron won't walk all over him.
You don't think that Lebron dictated to Ty Lue?
Again, I'm not suggesting that this was a bad hire. I have no way of knowing. I was simply saying that I didn't expect the Lakers to go in this direction.
I'm with you. Please, please, PLEASE Jeanie, don't fuck this up...Green eggs and Ham gets the nod. Let's see how the Wizard Oz/Lakers braintrust puts together the roster, now that everyone is on board.
Doc has failed to win a championship (or even get to the finals) with talented and loaded rosters ever since 2008 with multiple franchises and has made a career of poking at the Lakers. None of that should interest the Lakers. His one championship was the result of a former teammate gifting him KG in a lopsided trade.
That was meant to be more of an and/or statement; of course I know that they beat the Celtics the following year (Ron Artest!)What? He's failed to even get to the Finals since '08? Interesting. Then who did the Lakers beat for the title in '10?
Yes his one title was the result of having a good team. You think your Lakers would have won it all in '20 without getting LeBron & trading for AD?

Lakers signed Lebron as a free agent and traded nearly every last asset otherwise for AD. The Celtics got KG at a bargain with better trade offers out there at the time. Gifted. That said, the Lakers won with a retread coach who has since been fired. Is he a worthy hire as well now? Not likely to be at the top of anyone's list, but he's won as many championships as Doc.
Everyone glosses over the other aspect, that Doc has gone out of his way to criticize and jab the Lakers throughout his career. No way does he belong with the Lakers.

Can't argue any of this. At some point the F.O. has to have the ability to be able to point the finger at themselves...AD wanted outta New Orleans. It's not like the Pels wanted to get rid of him. But him forcing his way outta N.O. is somehow different than how the Celtics got KG?
"the Lakers won with a retread coach who has since been fired"
Vogel was the scapegoat. He ended up having to take the blame for an old-ass roster he didn't put together. Because for some bizarre reason the real GM of the team, not LeBron-he's not the GM, somehow gets little to no blame for the disappointing season the Lakers had.
Jeanie seems overly loyal to Pelinka. Maybe it's because he was Kobe's good friend? If the Lakers have another disappointing season next year will the new HC be blamed & fired or will the FO finally be held accountable for their decisions?

If nothing else, Terry Stotts looks like an NBA coach. Like if you closed your eyes and imagined an NBA coach, you would picture someone like Terry Stotts and you would tell yourself, I trust that guy with all my heart. Kenny Atkinson does not have that trustworthy look. I know you guys are thanking me for my deep analysis, so you're welcome.
If Lakers want to go conservative, then choose Stotts. But if they want to go for more, then go Darvin Ham. He's young, so maybe he'll bring a fresher approach. He also coached under Budenholzer, so that makes him part of the Popovich coaching tree. Can't go wrong with that, right?

If the Lakers have another disappointing season next year no more of this blaming LeBron stuff. It'll be time the F.O. is finally held accountable.
