I see Don Carey cleaning out his locker along with Dan O. and Lucas

I see one if not two interior spots changing starters, but staying on the roster. (Damn I wish Swanson gets cut)

A'Shawn eventually gets more snaps than Wright and Reid and quite possibly Walker and Ngata also.

Mulbach I feel is safe, but could see Landes making the roster as he is a BQ guy.

Can't see Dan O making the cut. With BQ's emphasis on 46 men for game day, I don't see them carrying three.

Don Carey IMO brings far less to ST than the other S on the roster. I can see Diggs and Miles being on the field with one of the new S signed. Love that BQ is looking at being younger, faster and stronger.

Lucas and Wright are in big trouble. Lucas especially, I cant see any way he stays now. Wright is not going to beat out Kyrie Thorton.

Carey finds a way to step up every time he is asked. He may finally be getting too long in the tooth now as injuries are catching up to him. I have not completely written him off yet, but I expect him to come out on the short end.

I like Swanson as a backup Center/Guard. He may not be great starting material at Center but he would be fantastic as a backup. He played decent at Guard 2 years ago too. No reason to dump him but I hope the new kid beats him out.

I don't mind Swanson as a reserve G. Lombardi's scheme may have screwed him up some, but it seemed even after the dummying down approach JBC had there was too many blown assignments with instant pressure from his wrong calls IMO. Which is why I fret him backing Glasgow.
Maybe a off season with same system helps? Not sure it does.

I'm with you on Carey stepping up at times. At this time I almost have to take BQ at his word. So far he has followed and has stuck with most of his philosophies that he stated. I see almost any backup being huge on special teams. That is Carey's downfall I feel.

100% agree on Lucas

Just the competition from Kyrie alone will be nice to see. That camp battle for snaps at DT prolly carries itself through the season on a weekly basis.

Same three guys for me.

Carey with the best odds. DanO may get to continue his inconsequential career one more year.

I still don't get why a Long snapper was drafted.

When BQ was asked same question, he pretty much said that now Don Mulbach has competition.

My only guess was somebody doesn't like something about Mulbach getting older and not as good on coverage. Then had feelings of not getting Landes to sign as UDFA?

Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention. I just don't remember a miss FG or a shanked punt( had to do it) being a issue with Mulbach. Coverage is only thing I can see. Don't see Landes being worth a shit either.

Yeah, I read the competition thing. And I'm definitely in the competition breeds success camp. Just have never really thought it applied much to specialized special teams positions. Kickers, punters, snappers, guys that don't have backups basicly.

Maybe Muhlbach is poor down field, I really have no idea. Like you said, haven't noticed any issue with his snaps.

Mulbach needs to stay. Need someone around to mentor our new long snapper.

I love that BQ snapped up a QB prospect. It would be nice to get some long term stability behind Stafford.

Mulbach is history. He's just like all the scouts, trainers and office people who have been sitting around here for years just coasting along. I get the feeling BQ has personal disdain for these folks.

I also voted Orlovsky and Carey. Swanson will only retain his starting job if he can beat out his new competition. Big if.

Mulbach is toast.

Unless the new guy flat out stinks it up this summer, that seems to be the most likely result. A new GM does not use a draft pick on a LS just to be a backup. Have we ever sent a LS to the practice squad? Would seem like a waste.

I thought of putting Fuller on that list. With no real draft implications, I left him off. Fuller is like Don Carey for me. He serves a purpose about twice a year.

Once we see his first season of cuts it will tell me a lot. One of the biggest things I hated with the MM's eras was depth. I'm sensing guys won't be kept around if you can't push the guy in front of you or be competent when asked to start. There are reasons some of the starters are from other teams practice squads. Yes, some were great finds and at times showed good scouting, but it also showed terrible scouting from within for the kids drafted.

I don't consider Mulbach as a guy who was coasting along. One botched snap in a ten year span is pretty remarkable. Otherwise, we better replace Martin right now. It would be terrible to see a second shank six years from now.

To expect 100% success from a specialist is crazy logic.
