From listening to certain fan bases I would think;
1) Dana Holgorsen WVU
2) Bo Pelini Nebraska

don't think the schools will do it, but that's the vibe I get from their fans.

Huh????? Who have you been talking too?

What about Michigan's coach?

Hoke monster is a great recruiter, but is not a game manager. Time will tell... With Michigans AD giving the dreaded vote of confidence, Hoke's time may be short.

If this happens, I would be worried as shit they would go out and hire a guy like Rob Chudzinski (Browns coach). Chud has all the makings of a future super star in coaching. Dude has the right pedigree to make it happen.

No idea why people list Holgerson. Everyone with a lick of sense knew this would be a down year for WVU.

On sports radio, I heard rumors that Chucky (Jon Gruden), may be ready to go back to coaching. If that's true.....would he become a college or pro coach? The same radio report went on to say that he could/might even go back to the Oakland Raiders!

I'd love to see it. I think him and Tirico make a great team but oh well. Grudens a great coach.

Hopefully he goes to cfb if indeed true.

Yeah, I'd rather see Gruden as a college coach, rather than an NFL coach...and I'm assuming if he does go the college route, that it will be for one of the big brand name schools/bluebloods (USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida, Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia, Alabama, etc.)

I go to the WVU boards and just look in.
Seems like everyone is down on the guy and wants a change.

Ahh I see. I think most knowledable WVU fans knew this was going to be a tough year. Firing would set us back 5 years minimally in the B12. Now since we have a pretty good possibility of going bowling, this year should be looked at as a step forward.

Muschamp is an interesting discussion:

A lot of the names on this list all have a very valuable "hole card" to play for their job security.
I am trying to figure out what "ace in the hole" Muschamp has that keeps him off the list.

1. He doesn't have the Mack Brown "Horrible state of the program before he got there" equity.
2. He doesn't have major bowl game and national title success.
3. He doesn't have alumni ties to the school.
4. He doesn't have the "learning a new conference" excuse of guys like Patterson & Holgerson.
5. He doesn't have the "we cannot afford to buy him out" problems like Iowa.
6. He doesn't have the "NCAA probation and scholarship" excuse like Lane Kiffin.
7. He doesn't have the facilities, recruiting base, and financial support excuses of Paul Rhoades.
8. He doesn't go to a school with a recent history of patience (Ron Zook).
In fact his overall resume looks worse than Ron Zook.....

I don't think he will even feel heat, but it honestly makes little sense that he is assumed a lock.

Unless the Huskers win out, and we'll probably know after this weeks game with Michigan, I honestly believe Bo will be gone. Now, Muschamp? Florida would start to look too trigger happy if they don't keep him around for at least one more year. Same with Holgerson--he hasn't been at WVU that long has he?

Ferentz @ Iowa is currently 5-4 with @Purdue, Michigan, @Nebraska.
So, he could easily end up 6-6.

Might just be the nudge they need to make a change.
But Iowa is so satisfied with mediocrity, I'm not sure it happens.

I heard Ferentz had a fairly large buyout? If that's the case he may not be going anywhere.

He's under contract through Jan 31st 2020 at $3.5 million/year.

His buyout without cause would be approx. $18 million.

Unfortunately, I don't think Muschamp gets fired this year. He'll get another season to change things around.

That adds more job security than multiple national titles.

Plus, Iowa would have to shovel a ton of cash to a new coach as well.

It is hard to get top name coaches to Iowa City.

So, Iowa would have to overpay the next guy in order to get someone better to come to Iowa.

Add that to 18 million AND it simply is better to keep Ferentz and hope he resigns.

Whats Mark Richts contract situation? I could see a scenario where he gets fired with Murray leaving and the building process starting over again at UGA, it might start without him. A lot of their fans don't like him anyway.

Holgorsen is not going anywhere THIS year, he gets this year for sure then it gets debatable for either '14 or '15 before a decision is made. His leash got a lot longer today with Luck staying put.

Yeah, Ferentz isn't going anywhere soon because of his long-term deal. That being said, you pretty much gotta figure the Iowa administration is unhappy with the football program progress, because the football staff underwent major changes over the past two years...Iowa is financially committed to Ferentz til 2020, so instead of getting rid of him, the shakeup occurred among the Iowa assistant football coaches.
