Gronk’s relatively low longevity plays against him. But to get Gronked was something to watch.
His low longevity works against him but otherwise he was the best I've ever seen. Great hands, great after the catch, great blocker.

Kelce is the best right now

Dont think that is crazy. It would be worthy of a conversation.
The conversation seems to be around the idea that blocking is super important. Tight Ends have a blue collar image. Most people wouldn’t ding Tom Brady because he couldn't run. Results are results imo but admittedly QB is different so it's hard to say people who want versatility are wrong.

I see 3 “other” votes on here, but nobody explaining who those guys are. Please elaborate.

Kelce gets my vote - seven 1000 yard seasons, over 800 yards in all 11 seasons as a starter, and his terrific postseason play earns him my vote. I loved Tony Gonzalez on the Falcons and he was great with the Chiefs as well, but Kelce just edges out him and Gronk as the GOAT TE

Harold Carmichael!

I'm not seeing enough Da Bearrssss references:

"Okay, Ditka vs the heavenly choir?"
"We talkin' Cherubim and Seraphim?"
"Yeah, the whole nine yeards."
"Ehhh, it'll be close, but I'm gonna go with Ditka"

George Kittle. I don't know enough about Ditka, Mackey, and Smith, but it seems like the most of the other guys on the list are mainly known for being receivers. Kittle does everything well while still also being a great receiver.

Kelce’s a better receiver by getting open as well as he does, but Gronkowski was the model tight end

It's impossible to compare the old timers fairly given the way the game has changed, but you guys should watch some clips of John Mackey.. especially what he did after he caught the ball.
