So, a conversation on the MLB board(of all places) led to an argument over football Tight Ends. Who was the best?
Other? Outta them I’d say Gonzales nevermind you updated it lolSo, a conversation on the MLB board(of all places) led to an argument over football Tight Ends. Who was the best?
You were too quick! I hit submit before I put the all the nominees in.Other? Outta them I’d say Gonzales
Yep my b lolYou were too quick! I hit submit before I put the all the nominees in.
For sure. It goes well beyond their ability to catch the ball and run. Blocking is a huge piece of the puzzle, too.I’m still thinking about it, there was a pretty big discussion about this in the is Kelce the GOAT TE on the NFL board.
There’s lots of factors to consider, were they good blockers, who was throwing to them, postseason success, longevity etc.
And then you got Gronk with a separate metric, “I wanna party with that guy”
Gronk’s relatively low longevity plays against him. But to get Gronked was something to watch.Imo its
1. Tony G
2. Kellen Winslow
3. Kelce
4. Gates
5. Gronk
I have a feeling that Kelce might be the #1 in most minds in a couple of years
A very good argument that you take Gronk in his prime over the rest. Although Winslow in the same bucket maybeGronk’s relatively low longevity plays against him. But to get Gronked was something to watch.
Probably so. He didn’t play long enough to compile all the biggest numbers. But on a per game basis, he’s probably right near the top.Gronk’s relatively low longevity plays against him.
93TD’s for Gronk in 143 games is mighty impressive, as well.I’m a little surprised to see him with only the 1 vote, so far. He’s definitely in the conversation. Same with Gates who has the most TD’s by a TE all-time:

Gates was awesome, I saw his whole career. Shannon Sharpe in Denver and Baltimore was a guy who you knew was gonna make a major difference in a big game.I’m a little surprised to see him with only the 1 vote, so far. He’s definitely in the conversation. Same with Gates who has the most TD’s by a TE all-time:
