If we're doing top 10:

1) Giannis
2) KD
3) Steph
4) Kawhi
5) Harden

6) AD
7) Lebron
8) Embiid
9) Dame
10) Paul George

Going with AD every so slightly over Lebron, if only because Lebron's defense (whether or not it was due to injury) was less than stellar. Embiid was a beast this year and played really well. Dame I give a slight edge over Paul George because Dame's been consistent in being the team's best player, while PG at times has flip flopped with Russ as being the defacto guy in OKC.

Where's Jimmy Butler? I think you made a mistake.

I can't put Kyrie Top Ten. He close, but I cant. Can't to sneak Oladipo in there, but couldn't do it.

We're 8/10 the same. And I'd go to prison before giving Embiid credit. Hate that douche.

I hate him too but he's arguably the best big man in the game. AD I have higher but yeah he is a bitch.
I also hated putting Kyrie in there but I had too.
Could have put PG13 in there bc he had a great season but just couldn't do it.

Egh.

Somebody else can make that arguement. I still do not respect the process.

So, only guys who will be playing the second round?

Think it also has to do with team impact. When you start to differentiate the talent in the top 10, you're really splitting hairs, IMO. So for me, the easiest way is to use some metric that is the tie breaker. For me, that's winning.

My tie breaker was not putting guys I dislike on the list.

Winning doesn't seem fair to use.

I need to switch out 9 and 10 then which would make that list more satisfying form me.

I will add: Paul George and Nikola Jokic

Both could make my Top 15. Jokic not certain. I need to see more.

George could be my 10 tbh.

Well the list wasn't a most talented list. That surely would be something much different.

But when you're talking about the best players, they are usually reserved for the guys who are not only supremely talented, but also successful. The best players elevate their teams and teammates. If we're having a most talented list, Russ Westbrook is easily in my top 3, without breaking a sweat. However when it comes to a best player list, he doesn't crack my top 10 and I'd probably also look for arguments for him to be as low as 15.

So for me there's a substantial difference between players talent and the best players overall. Additionally I try to take as little bias as possible in these rankings, although I do know that I'm not without it.

You have a guy at 1 that has never won a playoff series though. And is not exactly refined in a number of areas.

Yeah, but it's also not an all time list. It's a right now list. Right now, Giannis, IMO is clearly the best player in the NBA. With the way he's elevated his team to the best record in the NBA, being 1a or 1b at the very minimum in the MVP race and being the GUY on the Bucks makes him the best player, RIGHT NOW.

I don't see it that way at all.

He had an excellent regular season. He's still theoretically improving. In time...
