Wouldn’t be against it if they’re paid like their career norms and not their free agent walk year.

In the offseason I would like to see us pursue the best pitcher who will sign here. Whether that is Perez, Musgrove or a better pitcher than either of them, I am fine with that.

I bet most ranger fans are sick of selling. After the offseason we just had, we need to continue to build this team up. I’d be in favor of making a trade to solidify the back of our rotation. There are ways To figure out if Perez really wants to stay or not probably.

That’s why I think we should offer him an extension.
If he doesn’t take an extension we should definitely trade him IMO. Not trading him would be bad for the future.

Have already said the same. But what if you trade perez and Calhoun as you ask'd above. You will have to aquire a replacement.

what did the darvish, Cole Hamels, and Gibson trades really net us?

can anyone point to something tangible from those deals that is helping us in the farm system and likely to help us at the major league level? To be totally honest with you, I was stoked about the Lynn trade, but have since cooled on that one as well.

Depends I guess, the Mark Texeira trade was nice. The Gallo trade was nice. The Gibson trade not so much.
It can go a lot of different ways I suppose

Pretty much every ranger fan unanimously agrees that the teixera trade and gallo trades were awesome, but those were position players.

I’ve yet to see a good trade where we give up a quality pitcher and bring back prospects who actually help us.

I’m not sure on the SP, but the Frank Francisco trade for Mike Napoli was one of my favorite

Even when they traded Darvish, his ERA was just over 4, so we couldn't get his true value.

The Gibson trade, like the Teixeira, trade have to be considered outliers. JD and Young just really messed that one up. We have to hope that is an outlier or we have no hope as an organization. Lol
