It is probably wrong to assume we could get a great return for Perez. On the other hand, it is probably wrong to assume that there is no chance that that could happen.

Not a great history, and a rental.

This will be a interesting year at the deadline. ALCS is almost destined to be NYY vs Astr*'s. NL is a little more wide open, with 2 very good teams and 3 really good teams. The AL Wild Card will be last man standing from the Red Sox/BJs/Rays.

My gut tells me that the teams who do the most to "go for it" will come from the NL. I can't imagine an AL team - even those from the East - making significant moves. The Yankees are just too good this year.

Maybe the Astros make some moves in hopes of positioning themselves to try and get past the Yankees. Hard to tell. When those two teams played a couple of weeks ago someone suggested in an article that the Astros could use that series to show them what moves they need to make.

is Reks any better than Duggars? i don't care but neither has a future with the Rangers
The thing is the comment about needing to make ABs for Duggar which could conceivably be done in the minors

Both are easy DFAs but at least Duggar has an option and therefore is more flexible in how he can be handled

The Dodgers are nuts lol, all that money and all those prospects. They will be a force for quite some time.

Glad to see the Rangers with 6. About to have 7 possibly with our first round pick.
Wonder if the team trades multiple non top 100s for a single top 100, move it to 8 lol

i think the term easy DFAs makes more sense. instead sending one down so we can bring up the other makes no sense. instead of doing that why not keep Duggar where he is, play him as little as necessary and wait until we're sure Duran is comfortable playing in the outfield

The reason Duggar is not in the minors right now, is that he’s out of options. That’s what heard anyway. Don’t know why the Rangers are worried about somebody grabbing him. He has no future here.

Maybe they want Duggar for a couple of reasons; holdover at least until end of July so Duran can get reps in the OF down in AAA, depth in case they trade Calhoun and/or Taveras, depth in case of an injury.

When we acquired Dugger, this is what Scott Lucas said.

"I'd thought he was out of options, but per local media he has another."

I had read at one point he has one. No big deal to me except if he cuts into Leody time
He can ride the pine or get reps in AAA.

Ranger starters need to learn how to win a close game which obviously to me is playing with poise under pressure. Have to figure out a new closer too IMO

The thing is, when it matters the most, we will probably have 3 or 4 starters in the rotation that aren't even on the team now. Meaning, when we are actually in a pennant race.

Arihara pitches this evening for Round Rock. I guess he is still around on case of an emergency.

I think they actually want to get Duggar ABs but it just doesn't make sense at the ML level unless its done at the expense of Calhoun
