Frisco starters who have started 10 games or more ERA'a and average against.
Bradford - 5.85 - .287 - Just threw 6 shutout innings to lower that ERA to 5.85
Weems - 5.80 - .286
Leiter - 5.36 - .235 Goes to show you that control is his issue.
Kent - 6.15 - .301
Ragans - 2.81 - .219 Nice

Round Rock starters with 10 or more starts except Ragans
Winn - 5.04 - .230 Again control is the issue
Alexy - 6.82 - .299
Howard - 3.69 - .227 - Keep staring him at least for a month or to at the MLB level
Latz - 5.24 - .276
Ragans - 4.35 - .280 Just had his first bad start.

I am not going to drink this kool-aid that the reason they are doing so badly is that they are working on the pitches they have issues with.
I think Leiter, Winn and White will be really good, and Ragans and Alexy could be solid, along the same lines as Dunning, who I think is getting better and will end the year with a sub 4.00 ERA

I think Leiter will be good once he gets control of his pitches based on the fact that they are not really hitting him. I can see that for Winn as well. White I just know based upon what some have posted on here and I like what I hear. I think Ragans could be a decent pitcher for us as well. I am not feeling it for Alexy.
The main reason I posted this is I am not buying what the FO is throwing out there at us. Sure, they will work on the pitches they struggle with but not to the extent that they stink the place up. And a pitcher who wants to make it to the bigs will not be okay with getting kicked every time they pitch.
And keep Howard in the Rangers rotation. We need to see what he does over a couple of months after the improvement he made at AAA. I was not happy with what he did at the beginning of the year just like everybody else but with us rebuilding we need to see if he settles into a groove like he did at AAA.

Alexy and Duggar are the last hopes for the much maligned Darvish trade.

how have guys panned out from the Gibson and Hamels to cubs trades?

I made this post long before hearing anything from the front office. So, if there is any Kool Aod being offered, then it was me making the Kool Aid and not me accepting it and drinking it. Lol

Then later that day I posted the second post below, from Scott Lucas, who seemed to confirm what I guessed at.

View attachment 294418

This is an odd line for Winn in that he doesn't have any strike outs, but he has a 9 run lead so maybe it is due to him pitching to contact because of that lead. Or, maybe he is working on improving his secondary stuff. Either way, he has been very effective thus far. I hope he goes 6 innings.

Here is Scott Lucas' full report on Cole Winn's performance yesterday.

Cole Winn was fine, if not as scintillating as Alexy the day before. I hadn't seen him in person this season until yesterday. He's switched the majority of his non-fastballs in each start: sliders on the 8th, curves the 14th, and changeups on the 20th. Winn threw 13 righty-righty changes, including three of his six swinging strikes. Only seven MLB starters have thrown more of that variety in a single outing during 2022. Winn's change is often firm and the quality varies. Sometimes he pulled the string and induced a silly-looking swing. Sometimes he planted it firmly on the low-outside corner; it's effectively a low-and-away fastball at 84 instead of 93. In those cases, the pitch has nothing but the speed differential working for it, but when he sells it, that's enough. Righties swung at eight, put three in play and collected one hit. Much more than the average AAA pitcher, Winn appears to be workshopping pitches and sequences. His righty--righty change on a 3-1 count might be less common than a 500-ft. homer. He got a call on that pitch and followed with another change for a swinging strikeout.

As far as the front office offering the Kool Aid, if they are, then they just discovered the mix this year. I have never heard them mention anything close to that before this year. Even this year, I only read where Young indicated that as a reason for a couple of guys.

I have wondered for years why they don't tell guys to work on things in the minors and not to worry about the result. I guess since I have been wanting the organization to do that for several years, that I would naturally be more inclined to think they finally came around to the idea. The idea is nothing new for me. I have always been dumbfounded as to why that hasn't been done before.

Of course, that is nowhere near the reason why all of the ones who have struggled have done so. Some take awhile to adjust to a new league. Some simply hit a wall that they will never be able to climb. Then there are some who are in the former group, and then compound things by wisely choosing to work on certain things. The reasons for the lack of good results by those not putting up good numbers is a mixed bag.

Time will tell. It seems for now that White and Bradford are starting to put it together. They will still struggle at times. Their ERA will never tell the tale if have put it together. Those are shot for the season.

There is also the Kool Aid going around that says the different balls they are experimenting with in the minors affected a lot of pitchers.

I wasn't throwing shade at you. This is towards the media and front office because I myself had read somewhere that the Frisco pitching coach like to work of the pitches they do not have command of which they should but not to where they are getting drilled where teams are hitting around .300 against many of them. Jeff Andrews lasted one year at the MLB level as a pitching coach and was the pitching coach for Frisco from 2009-2015 and then back last year.

We are amazing. LOL! Not only that I was listening on the radio on the way home and going into the bottom of the 9th when we had 11 hits this year we were 17-0. But for the 2nd night in a row could not close out the game. I wonder if they have ever thought of using Burke as our closer.

Here's an idea. This offseason spend money on the bullpen. To me, the lack of spending money on the bullpen has always been one of JD's biggest flaws. Sure, Young is here now, but until they spend on the bullpen I am going to assume that JD will not sign off on doing so since that has always been part of his MO.
