I think Josh Smith was having better AB's before being moved to leadoff but I haven't seen them all, so can't say that 100%

The nationals series was probably the most disappointing one lately.

the nationals mediocre pitching staff shut us down completely for about 25 of the 27 innings we played against them. The offense was almost non-existent.

although winning the first 2 in Detroit and leaving with a split and “taking the last game off” against KC and not going for the sweep were both terrible as well.

From this point on, the only part of the rest of the schedule that should be considered favorable for us is when we play Oakland, 2 games with Colorado and possibly 3 with Detroit. Everyone else is on par with us or better than us.

Frisco starters who have started 10 games or more ERA'a and average against.
Bradford - 5.85 - .287 - Just threw 6 shutout innings to lower that ERA to 5.85
Weems - 5.80 - .286
Leiter - 5.36 - .235 Goes to show you that control is his issue.
Kent - 6.15 - .301
Ragans - 2.81 - .219 Nice

Round Rock starters with 10 or more starts except Ragans
Winn - 5.04 - .230 Again control is the issue
Alexy - 6.82 - .299
Howard - 3.69 - .227 - Keep staring him at least for a month or to at the MLB level
Latz - 5.24 - .276
Ragans - 4.35 - .280 Just had his first bad start.

I am not going to drink this kool-aid that the reason they are doing so badly is that they are working on the pitches they have issues with.

No one should expect the Rangers to be developing 5 TORPs.

If the franchise hits on two quality long-term SP's, that will be fantastic.

I have higher expectations as this is the most promise from a starting pitching corps in many years. I can easily see 3 or more. I expect Leiter and White to be starters. It looks like Ragans and/or Winn will make it and we have more down the pipeline.

I think there is more of a philosophy to have pitchers work on their weaker pitches especially at the lower levels. So the middle ground is once yuu get to AAA you should be more polished and complete in pitch repertoire and results are more primary but in lower levels emphasis should be on development

@saddles gave a fair assessment re Feliz and his move to relief pitcher by shortcutting work on secondary pitches.

We used to sign to sign retreads to stock AAA. Not so much this year

just my opinion
