every interview he has had before and after the draft is how he is just a football player who happens to be gay. he sounded annoyed with the questions during the rams press conference and then 2 days later announces this. he is going to get cut

At this point if he gets cut, it must be clear that it is for football reasons... Otherwise the rams will be in worse media trouble than they are now...

Yes, but is it he that is initiating all the interviews, or is he just another victim of the media... victim might be to strong of a word, but still...
As we all know the media makes a big deal out of everything, and they clearly can not get enough of Sam... Is that what the real problem is, or do you think he really is that cliché that he is saying these things...
We will never find out, if this was Sam's plan all along, I do hope not... But then again it is kind of genius for a late round pick to become the biggest story in the draft...
