If you put your situation in the hands of others, bad things will happen to you. In most cases, if you made the play properly and didn't put it in the hands of the officials, you wouldn't have problems with bad calls. Yes, bad calls happen, but if you make good plays and don't do stupid shit then you're not putting it in their hands to F it up.
Holding can be called on every single play. You cant hold off a 280lb beast charging to a specific place. The times and reasons for calls being made is the discussion. You cant simply say"dont do it" because technically it needs to be done.

Thank you. Think about it … after a first down when the clock is stopped to reset the chains, you don't lose any time if you are lined up for a snap.

Yeah, you also don't get 3 minutes to bring your field goal team on either. I'd been fine with Nix attempting a drop goal for 3.

You do if there is replay involved to reset the clock to the correct time. TBH, the rule should be changed for a live ball no TOs, but the rules were correctly enforced as written. I don't see how you can blame the refs for that … not saying that you are, but others do.

I agree with what you are saying...it is also shit plays like this that get rules re-written. It's within the letter of the law, but not the spirit of the law.

Not Auburn's fault that we can't make a kick for shit either...

Although I saw an interesting stat today...

Alabama's opponents were perfect on kicks this year. 20/20 on field goals with a long of 57 and 22 of 22 on extra points...WTF.

Damn ... hell of a stat. I am not sure what to make of that.

As far as the rule change, I am not sure how you would change it … if you allow no substitutions on either side of the ball it becomes a nightmare for the refs and you have to allow for a snap if the offense is set … just don't know.

I get most annoyed when it's inconsistent.

I'll grumble about refs here and there, but fans that whine non stop drive me nuts. Human error will happen.

I most get annoyed on instant replay when clear/obvious is thrown out the window and it's overturned despite not clear/obvious evidence.

All I know is, if you can't spike the ball in 3 seconds, you shouldn't be able to run a play in 1.

As a side note to that stat, Bama was perfect in only 4 games, and 1 of those we attempted no field goals. I suspect Auburn's Leprechaun has something to do with it....

Don't deny it...we all know you have one somewhere in the basement of Jordan-Hare tied to a chair.

It's either that or Saban didn't read the fine print...sneaky Devil.

That is incorrect. It takes 3 seconds to spike the ball, not snap it and run a play.

1: Spiking the ball.... how is that not intentional grounding? :D

2: Clemson tOSU game, if that Clemson player brought that pass down in the end zone then its a TD but there....incomplete pass huh??:rockford:

I forget the year, but Drew Brees got Purdue in position for a GW FG against the gophers with roughly 19 seconds and no timeouts. I believe they completed 3 passes, all in the middle of field, and somehow had time to get FG kicker out despite their last completion occurring with ~1second left. It was ridiculous. I get clock stops on 1st down, but no way they could've got teh FG unit out in time w/o 1 second going off clock

That's more clock operator than refs, but I don't think what they did is possible

We also got hosed in OT on a TD, we should've had one, but due to poor coloring of the EZ they ruled it OB, had to settle for FG

I just don’t get crying about one 50/50 call when your team clearly choke on the big stage for the nth time :noidea:

For the timing part of it, all you have to be able to do is snap the ball in less than a second and the time is open ended from there. Difference with a spike is the ball has to be snapped, spiked and blown dead. IMHO you can do that in less than three seconds, but if that is how they interpret the rule and are consistent then I am fine with it.

I wish.

I cant figure out why Saban teams struggle with FGs. I know that kickers can be streaky but damn. I wonder if it is really as bad as the perception because of the consistent excellence of the rest of his units or statically if there is really a big difference or are they average but just happen at opportune times.

Going back 4-5 years, Toledo vs. Syracuse game................. didn't toledo make a FG, and the fucking retarded refs officially called it no good, and they actually let it stand that way, and didn't correct the call? I don't know how that guy didn't get fired, and the toledo fans not storming the field with torches and pitchforks......

I notice that winners don't cry about the refs. Only losers, and I am not talking about the team that lost.
Fans are supposed to be fanatic. Do you even follow Wisconsin football, bro?
