Yeah but they don't play in a division where the first place team is leaning on Vernon Wells, Lyle Overbay, and Travis Hafner.

Poor proof of a sucky division and league.

That's like thinking the Grizzlies are good cause they beat the Thunder...

No, they've been playing in a division with the Reds, a team that you have said sucks shit every day of this season.

The fail is very strong in you...

not a good idea.. you are sure to drop a few points in the standings after today

Maybe I've been brainwashed by the greatness of Yankee pitchers vs that lineup

still love that guy

but he did need to go (not how he did) but he needed to go and the Sox needed to let him go

they handled it all wrong, as usual

when's the last time Toronto beat the yankees? 1998?

feels like when the sox won like 9 straight against them in a season and then didn't win another game. i am hoping that this is gonna happen for us. they absolutely own us. and i hate losing to them more than any team in baseball

I drafted Jean Segura in the last round of a keeper league, and dropped him

Best or 2nd best offensive SS in the game

What team out there would possibly want him at that price tag?

Id take him ... not even a question

and id have to think the yankees would be a serious threat to attain him next year (once they get under the cap for this season)

This season is not good news to the players union

If the Yankees go to the postseason with this roster, it will change the way they do business in regards to monstrous contracts

I already think Cano is no lock to be retained

Not sure the sox want him zig ... regardless he's a perfect fit for either team, especially with the ability to stay in the AL and DH at times

I disagree Dirt, I dont think even the yankees will buy into this notion they can continue to do this.

Doesn't mean they won't tinker with the roster every offseason. But should they sign Cano at 10/200? Or fill out the roster with a few short term $8million dollar guys to replace his production?

Its not the popular move, but dont think for a second that Hal isn't noticing that Robbie as the premier star on that team now, is not filling seats in that stadium. You pay that contract with the expectation they will draw at the gate

Oh I agree with that ... but its a 2 part issue. I dont think Cano is a guy you can pay 10 / 200 for ... not saying anything about him right this second, he's a top 5 player. But im not a believer in him to be dominant for 6 or 7 years of a 10yr contract (because nobody ever produces the full 10)

The stadium seating statement is pretty interesting. But havent they had trouble filling the new stadium from the jump pretty much? I mean after the initial season in it?
