I wanted garrad to start the season because the first 9 games are down right brutal......so now, i have no idea.....i really dont want to see geno thrown into the fire week 1, granted home vs tampa isn't bad, but then 4 days later thursday night @ new england......and 2 decent weeks.......then week 5, @ atlanta, week 6 vs pittsburgh, week 7 vs new england, week 8 @ cinncy, week 9 vs new orleans

Indians right-hander Justin Masterson threw a shutout last Monday against the first-place Yankees and then followed that up on Sunday afternoon by firing seven scoreless innings in a 6-0 victory over the Mariners. He fanned a total of 20 batters over those two outings and now boasts 71 strikeouts in 70 innings this year to go along with a 2.83 ERA and 1.13 WHIP.




Masterson has displayed flashes of ace-like potential in the past -- most notably in 2011 when he had a 3.21 ERA in 216 innings with Cleveland -- and he seems to have taken a large step forward this year. His sinker velocity is up from 2012 and he clearly has much more confidence in his slider, which has looked particularly nasty over the past three weeks
