Simple.

Keep the below the knee in the pocket. That ends seasons for QB's too often. And like it or not, nobody's wanting to watch Pats/Packers if it's Hoyer vs. Hundley.

Keep hits to the head or head first hits out. There's billions of dollars of lawsuits waiting on those. Have to take the stand to protect the brain even if we don't want it.

Take out the egregious hits. The pile driving of a QB. Throwing a QB. headhunting while he's sliding. Hitting a QB well late on the play (unless he is acting like he has the ball still on an option, then he's free game as a runner).

And all those plays go up to a booth for a confirmation. 15 second time limit to confirm, if no change in that time, play stands as called.

The landing on a QB's body, still part of the game. If it's over the top (the intent some have mentioned), fine them after review on Wednesday, but don't let it impact the game on the spot.

They're trying to keep the starting QBs healthy. Nobody wants to watch a Glennon/Dobbs Monday night game.

I really don't think the rule needed any changes in the first place. It made sense to me to do the change they made a few years ago about hitting QBs low, because they are in a defenseless position there while looking downfield. But this rule change seems terrible. They can always call unnecessary roughness on extreme examples of driving the QB into the turf, like the old Tony Siragusa-Rich Gannon hit. But they are calling that way, way too much right now on basic hits.

It's simple now. If he lands on the QB, it's a flag.

This rule already effects the Eagles greatly, since they have the best Dline.

We all like the violence. We all like hurting opponents QBs. But that's not legal defense anymore.
