What is LeBron's legacy if he loses 5 times in the finals?

To be fair to Lebron. When it comes to pure killer instinct, there's MJ, Kobe and then everyone else. Other guys want to win and most want to win bad. But MJ and Kobe want to win to the point that it probably qualifies as a mental illness.

I'll say this, when you consider Lebron's size and overall talent level, NBA teams should be very thankful that he doesn't have MJ or Kobe's killer instinct. Otherwise, he might have 7 or 8 rings already.
Well every one but the teams Lebron was on is thankful any way:pound:

I'm no Lebron fan (despite what Hurricane once said), but I have to disagree with this. I could see 10. Anything beyond that is a stretch.
Lebron possibly makes the top 20, but there is no way in hell he makes the top 10. He accomplished something significant to get to the finals five straight years, but he made it that many times because the Eastern Conference so pitiful and weak. He wouldn't have got past the Warrior or the Spurs in at least two of those trips.

You realize you put Stockton and Malone on your "20 players better than LeBron", right?
Yes I did - It's nothing personal, but I wanted to see if Wiggy's brain would explode when he read that.

Overall, they might have been weaker than the West and that is probably true but he still had to beat some very good to great teams getting to the Finals.

'06-'07- Pistons (by himself)

'10-'11 Bulls, Celtics
'11-'12 Pacers, Celtics - won title
'12-'13 Bulls, Pacers - won title (very good)
'13-'14 Pacers (very good)
last year was the only year didn't play a legit team or very good IMO

Far too much is made of NBA Finals losses.

Sure, Jordan was 6-0 in the Finals, but he still lost 6 or 7 playoff series over his career. Is it somehow better to lose in the first or second round than it is to lose in the Finals?

Far too much is made of 6-0. Jordan played 15 seasons and won 6 titles, so he was 6 for 15. LeBron is 2-12, about to be 2-13. The fact that he lost in the Finals should only HELP his legacy, but the real stat that matters is how many rings. Losing in the Finals does not diminish him because there are plenty of other tremendous players who can't even get there.

To clarify, 6-15 is amazing in today's NBA. 2-13 is pretty damn good too.

Great athleticism and possibly the most athletic player of all time, but I still don't think his ball iq is as good as what Kobe's was and I personally believe that history judges him to be less than what the Lebron fans in here believe him to be. You might not like it, but critics in my opinion will judge him harshly if no more championships

It's still a great accomplishment to get to the finals five times straight and the guy did that with three different teams on with Cleveland the first time, Miami and Cleveland the second time but I do believe he will be criticized if he can't win at least one more or two more.

I think LeBron is gonna make the Finals this year to make it 6 straight---- and in the next 4-5 years will make it AT LEAST 3 more times.

LeBron RIGHT NOW has 6 Finals appearances. When all is said and done I think he should have made it to OVER 10 Finals. He could lose 5, 6, even 7 or 8 Finals- not just 5. If Dan GIlbert keeps running payrolls that are astronomical- and Love and Kyrie are just entering their primes- i see absolutely ZERO reason why not unless some power emerges in the East that im just not seeing.

The legacy question though- simple- when all is said and done he will be regarded as the best of all time outside of his Airness. Hes 31 and already just outside the top 10 on the all time scoring list. He has 4 MVPs. Add in like 10-11 Finals appearances...3, 4, 5 wins...EASY.

Smart NBA Fans will remember that this guy did that Kobe, Michael and no one else would have done

Thats take an awful Cavaliers team to a finals, with Delonte West as his second best player

And hang with GS last season after Kyrie and Love went down, with Matthew Delavadova taking 15 shots a game
