How many Finals MVPs for Bill Russell if the Award was around at the time?

I think I need you to explain away 5 MVP's and monster numbers in the NBA finals.. routinely.. as well as being considered the best defender in the league for a solid decade (Yes, defense is half of the game)

The reasons he's not even in the discussion anymore have been stated many times, including in this thread. Go back and re-read. Russell as GOAT hasn't been a thing for at least 10-15 years.

Only in younger, narcissitic circles. Young generations want their guys at the top. They watched their players, and their players are the best. Society breeds this type of thought-process... we have tons of weirdos at universities who judge people in previous eras by their morals at the time, oblivious to the fact that if they were rich in 1850, they'd likely own slaves because it would be the norm and they wouldn't know better.

No.

It is an anchor that pulls him all the way down to the bottom of the conversation.
I give massive stats, he clings to FG%? LMAO. Talk about an imbalance. Explain away Russell's finals numbers,. 5 MVP's, 10-0 in game 7's, the legendary players he went through year after year.

Again.. did Russell take your dad's lunch money?

I did explain it.

Best player on a team that one every year. Loaded with hall of famers.

Pay attention.

Also, rebounds back then were skewed because nobody could score efficiently and they played at a very fast pace

I get the counter points.. but you can't discredit the actual points. We can meet halfway. My contention with you is that you act as if Russell is a stiff who doesn't belong. With all due respect, I think you have a massive blind spot.

Did anyone call him a stiff?

No.

We said he doesn’t belong in the GOAT convo.

And all you got to prop him up is accolades based on opinion of whoever chose them.

That is not enough.

His actual statistical accomplishments don’t come close to measuring up.

They do, you just explain it away for the era. His points-rebounds numbers are insane, and it's not like those were common back then, He was completely elite, and the alpha on a team that beat elite talent year after year.

Hey, I like talking sports with you, you're generally well above much of the ego-drama garbage on here. We can stop this dance, agree to disagree, and move on. And.. elbow each other here and there about it on different topics.

You haven't taken "anybody to school."

Well technically you're correct, but the "facts and substance" I provide definitely took you to school.

Other than LeBron Fan Logic tell us again why we shouldn't hold Most Career Turnovers and Most Career Missed Shots against LeBron if we're gonna heap soooo much praise on his other longevity milestones?

lol

He also has the most career playoff losses, but let's ignore he also has the most wins.

Steph Curry has shot more than half his shots from 3 and has a 47 percent career pct
You're ripping people out of their era and comparing them, which is dishonest.

Steph Curry has had the benefit of training for 3 pointers his whole life, with advanced technique training, advanced nutrition, advanced plyometrics, advanced basketball strategy.

You can't do that and expect to be taken seriously. Sorry.

To be fair it's a good thing Bill was meh offensively, if he had been Wilt on the offensive side you may as well as just handed the Celtics the title every year.

Dude just stop. You're just the latest ego-poster who finds some sort of filling of a void in your life by being chesty online. You took nobody to school, you just aren't on here to debate.. you have an agenda and will try to cowardly slither away when challenged. Your type is pathetic.

How much muscle memory does Bill need to make a lay up lol

I obviously didn't watch Bill live, but his metrics point to his comp being ben Wallace, who i also opined over many times not understanding how someone could be so talented defensively yet not be able to even dribble effectively

If Russell was Ben Wallace, Wallace would have won MVP's. He never came close.

This is a Skip Bayless saying Johnny Manziel will light up cleveland more than Lebron James ever did take... You're insane.

Russell won MVPs because he was the best athlete on the best team. He was well ahead of his time athletically. I will never downplay his athleticism. He was an exceptional athlete. As is Ben Wallace.

Both are borderline retarded on offense. The man averaged 20 boards and never got over 20 points a game in a high pace era with a zillion shots. Shaq would have averaged 50 a game then. Now that would be unfair to flip him back to then

Wrong. I'm not part of any "younger circles". Russell doesn't have the stats. Sorry, but 44% from the field for a center is terrible. Russell wasn't even the best player at his own position. That was Wilt (who shot 54% from the field).

Wilt: 30.1 ppg. 22.9 rpg. 4.4 apg. 54% from the field 51.1% from the line.

Russell: 15.1 ppg. 22.5 rpg. 4.3 apg. 44% from the field 56.1% from the line.

You can't be the GOAT when you weren't even the best at your own position.

You understand that a "counterpoint" is also an actual point, right?
