Maybe but I still think OSU gets in in 17 if they don't schedule Oklahoma . 12-1 with a B10 title ( even with a 31 point loss ) trumps 11-1 with no SEC title and a 12 point loss.They MIGHT have gotten in even with an top 10 OOC win but still probably not...when you lose by 30 to any team that is going to be a huge glaring point but when you lose by 30 to a bad team you will likely not get in the playoff. The committee said the gap was pretty big and it wasn't the schedule that didn't get them in...it was a bad blowout loss. It's something you can't recover from.
There are instances you can point to where maybe a team gets in with a better ooc but there's never been a blue blood with only 1 loss left out in favor of a non blue blood with 1 loss if both are conference champs . To me that means elite programs only need to worry about 2 things A. Not losing 2+ and B. Winning their conference . In that order .
