I think they need to pick up a #3 type starter (Santana? Hammel?) but if they want by all means try to get Shields or Scherzer or Lester...

Of course they need about 3 new bullpen arms including a closer (Romo?)

And perhaps a LF (Melky Cabrera? Markakis?)

Don't think they need a full time DH, more useful to rotate guys into that spot to keep them fresh, but if they want to add Mike Morse or Nelson Cruz sure why not...

With a couple of these moves I expect them to be in the playoff hunt next year.

Be nice to fire Ventura but that ain't happening. And it's not really necessary, it would just be nice.

I don't want shields or samardzija. rumors going around that sox are looking at the panda and scherzer. im not sure how true it is. both will be highly overpaid. id prefer 4-5 good signings over 1 or 2 big name signings. need bullpen help, another starting pitcher, catcher, and left fielder

Panda would be a huge mistake, but I think it's moot anyway, it's either SF or Boston for him.

They may have to overpay for the 1 starter they need, it's just how it is. They have plenty of room.

Don't really 'need' a catcher, not much out there anyway.

Bullpen is the main thing obviously, then a #3 starter, then sure a LF would be nice. But their position players are pretty set, need pitching help first and foremost.

Agree with all 3 of your points. Melky would be a perfect fit, switch hitter, Sox are too righty...not too pricey.

But again, offense not really the issue. Papelbon would be a total disaster. They should make a play to sign Romo to close. And Ervin Santana to start. 2 more middle relievers and that's a potential playoff team for sure.

I feel pretty smart in this thread....instead of a #3 starter they got a #2. They got Melky. They got a DH/1B. They got 3 pen arms including a closer. You're welcome, Sox Nation!
