wow your x girlfriend is shot dead and the baby she was carrying survives. You are wanted for questions not as a suspect (yet) but just for information and your whole future goes up in smoke before your very eyes if you have done nothing wrong and don't get drafted. Or your somehow connected to this terrible event and....................

Lots to think about for NFL teams.

His background would have to be questionable to begin with for this to drop him off the board completely.

Well it is the uncertainty part of it all. Let's say somebody uses a 1st round pick on him then a week later police find evidence that he should be the suspect in the murder of the woman. Then you pretty much have lost that 1st round pick to the court system for the next 2 years. Now because of that some teams have just said we want nothing to do with this kid just in case something like that does happen. The whole Hernandez situation seems to be hurting him more than anything.

Now me personally I would go ahead and use a 2nd round pick on him. He is still a top-15 talent and while yes there is a small chance that something happens badly for him he is still a top-15 talent on most boards. To me that is worth taking a risk on.

Its all about the Hernandez story.

The draft is 25% luck, 25% player evaluation, 25% player development and 25% public relations.

It is the public relations part of that that is going to kill Collins. No GM is going to want to go in front of the media on the first night of the draft and talk about drafting a possible murder suspect.

If teams get a little bit of clarity on the situation, I could see him going on the 2nd day. But without a lot of clarity on the situation, the 3rd day is most likely. And if he goes undrafted, well, I hope he has a good lawyer because it means he is likely going to be charged with something at some point.

Not really.

From everything I have read, most teams drop about 40-50 players from their board every single year.

Some GM's come in with the mandate to put together a team that is the least likely to get in trouble off the field. It is a business 1st and a sport 2nd. Not every team is willing to deal with the bad PR that comes with the trouble makers. That is why certain teams over the years like Cinci and Dallas have stockpiled the questionable character guys.

Cris Carter was just on ESPN saying get ready for a Adrian Peterson trade.

I have the feeling that tonight is going to be a rough night for me. Haven't felt bad about a draft since the Ponder draft. That means I'm probably due.

Yeah, but now is the time to deal Peterson. He is one of the few RBs you'd want at 30 but the Vikings should be looking to get rid of him for anything they can get

I don't disagree that it would be wise to try and deal him now....but I still kind of don't want to see it. My mind and heart aren't necessarily on the same page on this one.

IMO he still has some elite years left in him. Personally I don't trade him unless the picks that we get back for him = Gurley + a little something else.

Peterson is elite and I think Gurley (not in his first year) will be elite as well.

Some chatter about Bruce Irvin to the Falcons. Twitterverse acting like it's a done deal, ESPNSeattle website columnist saying it's unlikely.

Yeah, we're hearing that here too.

This might not be dead yet though...what is surfacing here today is ATL is willing to give up #42 for Irvin and SEA wants more...but with no long term deal in place for Irvin people supposedly in the know don't expect to ATL to go any higher.

Rams are rumored to be one of the teams looking to move up to #2 and not for Mariotta. Might be Cooper or Leonard Williams they're targeting.

Link?

Apparently they've always been in the mix for Mariota but you are talking about the team that walked onto the Redskins field with a whole mess of players just to make fun of RG3

I would be SHOCKED if ATL offered 42..... If thats the case JS/PC would pull their groins running to accept it.

Seems about proper value for a solid pass rusher who extremely cheap the next two years to me.
