If I were to rank stadiums I've been to by douchebagism of the fans.......

1. Colorado- They are on they're own level, every time I went to Boulder I expected to end up in jail... I always took a rental car.... I would wear a plain black hoodie till I got in the stadium
2. Wisconsin- pretty disappointed, nothing happened to me but I saw plenty, yet I know why nothing happened to me and it makes me think not only is the majority of your students douchebags but also cowardly pussies. Nothing happened to me cuz I had two monsters with me, and I'm not exactly someone most want to fuck with.
3. Texas A&M-
4. Kansas State (even though worse thing I ever saw happened there, they are mostly good)

All other stadiums I've been too have been good experiences far surpassing the one I had saturday night, including Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa State, Virginia Tech

i never found A&M to be that bad. then again who is going to be an asshole to a cute lil dude like me:D

I guess we are just surprised.....

We always thought that Colorado fans were total asshats.....

Then we find out they are more "normal" than we thought....

Because something is normal, does not make it acceptable....

I've never once heard a "asshole" chant in Lincoln......

I've never once seen a beer thrown at someone(unopened can anyway)in Lincoln.........

I've never once seen someone spit at in Lincoln.............

We expect to be treated with the same class we give........ I don't think that's too much to ask for, but apparently you do smart.

I've never seen beer thrown at somebody, and i've never heard of anybody spit at. If that was a Jared Sullinger reference, I can assure you with 100% certainty that he is lying. There are security guards who line up in between the area where the student section is and the tunnel to leave. I've seen pictures of people charging the court, and nobody is close enough to hit him. The only way he gets spit on is if somebody spit over security guards with nobody noticing and Jared Sullinger not complaining. I don't think that is very likely.

As for the "asshole" chants, to quote the great Bo Ryan, "Deal with It." You know that we poking fun at the fact that you all are in our student section. There is nothing even remotely offensive about.

You say that you want us to treat you like you treat us. Well guess what? I've been to a lot of stadiums and sat around a lot of opposing fans at our stadium. I've chatted with many opposing fans on message boards. I have NEVER seen anybody criticizing a perfectly acceptable tradition under the guise (or is it disguise) of "class".

Class is being able to walk into other schools and enjoying their traditions without prejudice or ethnocentrism. You guys seem to be utterly incapable of this. You guys can sit around and talk about how nice you are, but you guys are the ones calling 30,000 people douchebags because of a simple case of banter that many schools do. Do you guys not see how that is a tad bit hypocritical?

....are you saying calling people assholes is a tradition? thats one fucked up tradtion

i think that we have a right to call you douchebags if your...say......being douchebags. i don't find it hypocritical at all. we are acting in response. and ONLY with words on a stupid message boards. we are not acting in response by throwing beer cans back at you, your spitting back.

all this aside...i have said this multiple times and i will say it again. that "big ten football" chant, pissed me the fuck off. i realize we are the new kid so we have to take some of that. but something like that....really? thats immature....and if you don't want us in your fucking conference then you shouldn't have voted to accept us. but now that we are here, fucking deal with it and accept us, with at least a little respect. i wasn't even at the game and i have almost completely lost respect for wisconsin's fan base

I haven't read this whole thread about Wisconsin students, but I will say pre-emptively that if you are offended by foul language, you shouldn't go to a game at Camp Randall.

Maybe it's a cultural thing. The Big Ten is not in the Bible Belt, as much of the Big 12 and SEC are. People swear pretty liberally.

I went to Lincoln and was treated extremely well before the game. During the game there was a lot of friendly banter in my section which was mostly Huskers. My team won and their fans cheered as both teams left the field. I went out that night and was treated well and even had some beers bought for me.

Mind you, I was 28, am not a drunk and pretty amicable, but I really likedthe Nebraska fans. I hope to visit Madison one day, as well.

its not the language that we are upset about. its the way its said. its said with hate, its not said as banter. and as a few husker fans have mentioned....its gone beyond just fouled language, its been personal insults, and having things thrown at them

Chanting asshole at opposing fans is a Badger tradition? Nice.

Wisconsin student sections chant "Eat Shit" and "Fuck You" to each other. It's all in jest.

(this is the thing they do when the band plays Swing Town... students in section O put their hands over their heads in an 'O' and yell "Ooooooo", then section P or N next to them yells "Sucks!", and they yell back "Eat Shit", and the other section says "Fuck You")

1. Those of you who weren't there, you really can't talk.

2. The asshole chant. I mean, sure, maybe you all still find vulgar language unacceptable, but we're not going to wash our mouths out with soap. I've done it. Nobody was actually upset with the opposing fan. It was just fun to us, and yes.

3. The Big Ten Football chant...I didn't really agree with it actually.

i was not there, but i feel i can talk because i have been in madison on a gameday before. not for a nebraska game, and i didn't even go to the game, but out and around the town i could see whiskey fans being assholes to people.

and as i mentioned in my earlier post, i don't think its the language that people are upset about, its the obvious hatred, ignorance, and overall douchebaggery that it was used in that is upsetting

It's not really said with hate. As I said Wisconsin student sections swear at each other.

If you encountered anyone that was being really obnoxious, remember it's a night game, so most students had been drinking for about 10 hours before game time, and a huge game. What you witnessed was not so much endemic to Wisconsin students' as it was typical of really drunk 20 year olds.

but see thats what we have been saying. night games at nebraska do not mean the students are going to all be drunk assholes. we literally have a mentality running through us of "treat the visiting team well" and we really don't think its that much to ask to be treated with a little respect when we go on the road too. i guarantee you not a single husker fan WANTED to be nice to texas after the game in lincoln last year. but we were kind anyways, because thats how we think it should be done
