Skegness is ... okay I guess (we used to go to the small random villages around it on vacation as kids). I live near Nottingham in Central England, so it's about a 1 and a half hour drive or a 2+ hour train journey. Easiest route from London is on the train headed to Newcastle or Edinburgh, change at Grantham and then get a slower train to Skegness from there.
