I think the Broncos are ready for the game in Foxboro this year. Obviously a very tough place to win for us but this year has a different feel. Weather doesn't look great but shouldn't slow our offense down too much. I think our defense will be the difference for our team and the primary reason the Broncos pull out a victory, as they swarm Gronkowski and shut down any running yardage by the Patriots.

An interesting side note.....I was having a late dinner with my wife last night at a popular steakhouse here in Denver. We were actually the last people to leave the dining room and there was only one couple in the bar. Hearing a familiar voice, I was taken aback to see Coach John Fox enjoying a drink and laughing. My wife and I introduced ourselves and he was super friendly. I asked him if the Broncos were ready to go beat the Patriots in NE on Sunday and he laughed and said that they were gonna give it a good try. Shook his hand and wished him good luck. It was pretty funny when my wife told him that he was "really kicking some ass this year." He laughed and said "thanks, sweetheart!"

Go Broncos!

That's awesome MH. I can see/hear John Fox saying that, lol.

Hey Crash, not to get off of the thread topic, but you mentioned Taylor Mays. How has looked so far in his career? I know he was always a big hitter and had great straight-line speed. I was wondering how his physical talents have translated to the NFL, but I hadn't heard his name in a long time.

He blows. He is our 5th safety and 7th LB. He is a better LB than he is a safety, which is amazing because of his speed. He has no instincts whatsoever though and he is not good at changing directions. Straight line speed, hard hitter, all there is to Taylor Mays.

Some of you are saying that the game could go a couple of different ways......a Denver blow out, a Denver tight win, or a NE tight win. Seriously, you believe that the Patriots could blow out the Broncos at home?

Someone else wrote about the coverages and then asked 'who' would cover Welker, Hillman and a couple of other guys. May I ask the same? If your starters cover Gronk, Edelman and LaFell, who will cover Wright, Vareen, Tyms etc>?

Some Bronco fans so hate and disrespect the Patriots that they believe the Broncos will just walk into Foxboro and scare the Patriots away. Tom Brady has the highest home winning percentage as a quarterback in NFL history. He's never had the receivers that P. Manning, E. Manning, Brees or Rodgers have had, yet the Patriots passing game has never been horrible. This Patriots team got off to a rough start and may not have played the iron of the NFL, but they have played every week and have improved every week and put up 50 points against the Bears last week.

If by some set of freak circumstances, the Patriots beat the Broncos by more than 10 points, who will you blame? The officials? The weather? The wind? The Patriots? The Broncos? Only two things in life are certain, Death and Taxes..........

a co-worker of mine brought up a good point...

This is a MUST WIN for the Patriots. IF they lose this game then kiss the first round bye goodbye. IF the Broncos lose they (in his opinion and mine) that the Broncos still have an excellent chance at getting the first round bye looking at their schedule. So the Patriots will throw everything they can into this game (sadly, I don't think it will be enough and they will lose). Not saying the Broncos won't because they want to win every game. I think it just means more for the Patriots (in the grand scheme of things) than to the Broncos.

Not at all sure that Gronk is Brady's only option, though he is clearly the most dangerous. Tim Wright, La Fell, Edelman, Vereen and even Amendola are potentially problematic.

I agree with all of this except Amendola. He has quickly faded from the Patriots offense and the trust of Brady. However, this is a game where he might stand out (and has too) because the Broncos should really just forget about DA and worry about everyone else.

Yeah, I know that he has been disappointing in NE, but I included "even Amendola" on that list, since he did get catch a TD a couple of weeks ago against the Jets.

Truth of the matter is that the two TEs are who I worry most about. Denver has not defended TEs particularly well the past couple of years and NE's resurgent offense over the last month seems to have coincided with Gronk getting healthy and getting Wright more into the mix. I expect BB to use a lot of two TE sets.

who hasn't scored a TD against the Jets? LOL

I certainly hope that trend continues because I see them shutting down Edelman and LaFell.

Few things here...I think almost all of us are showing the Patriots quite a bit of respect. Most of us think of them as the 2nd best team in the AFC right now and they have really responded to the adversity that was put upon them after the first 4-weeks of the season. Yes a couple have predicted the Broncos to win big but all of them have said they wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots won as well. So just because somebody put a blowout score forth doesn't mean they are trying to show any disrespect we just love how our team is playing on both sides of the ball.

The Broncos defense is also why we are not predicting a NE blowout in this one. The most points they gave up was 26 (only 20 in regulation) to that of the Seahawks. We have played 5 of the top 15 scoring offenses in the league at this point with only having played 7 games. So all but 2 of our opponents are a top half of the league offense. Yet our defense continues to hold opponents below their average for the year. Throw in the weather is not supposed to be that great. Usually bad weather games have teams turn more to the run game meaning lower scores. So yes New England could blow out the Broncos but I do think it is going to take the Broncos offense having a few turnovers like we saw last year and giving the Patriots a short field. I think it is the same though for the Broncos if they are going to blow out the Patriots in they are going to need to force some turnovers. You don't see many blowouts without that happening these days.

Now as for who is going to cover who...This is just my best guess

Gronk--The Broncos are going to run a high-low type scheme on him where they will try to have one of the linebackers jam him at the line and then have a safety over the top. Gronk will win this battle some but it should work to contain how much damage he can do.

LaFell--My guess is you will see Talib on him as LaFell being a bigger WR it makes sense to stick our big Corner on him and just leave him on an island for the game and just trust that he is going to win that battle.

Edelman--My guess is Chris Harris will be on him. Harris has been the top corner in all the NFL this year so again the Broncos will trust to leave him on an island most of the game. They will also have single high safety help for Talib and Harris just in case they get beat deep.

Wright--This is the one match up I am interested to see what they do. I could see them sticking Brandon Marshall on him and seeing what happens. I could also see them stick Bradley Roby on him as he is a corner but he hits and plays more like a safety.

Finally the RB--My guess is New England is going to have the RB stay in to help block more times than not with the Broncos pass rush. The Broncos have been one of the best teams against the screen game so I could see NE try it a couple of times but I don't think it will work well. So again I see them more as a blocking option than anything else. Hope that answers your question BigKen.

It won't be an easy match up for either defense mostly because of the quarterbacks but I do think the Broncos have the best overall weapons of the two teams meaning there will be more pressure on NE's defense to try and stop them. Throw in the Broncos have the better pass rush and better OL to stop the pass rush so the Broncos can feel good about sending 4 and expecting them to get to Brady.

I think a Patriots blowout would be in the range of a 10-16 pt advantage and that's about it. i.e. A lead the Broncos can't tie with a single score. Anything more than that is pure fantasy. But the Broncos could definitely blow out the Pats.

Before your panties ride all the way up your ass may I have names of the Broncos fans that say Denver is going to blow out the Patriots? Yes many fans dislike the Patriots for good reason but I havent seen any Broncos fans on the Broncos message board that have ever blamed the refs. Im pretty sure most of us will own up and say the Patriots were the better team that day if they win by a large or even small margin. So I suggest chill and just enjoy the game win or lose. Just saying.

The game could be like the KC game or like the Jets game. :noidea:

I must have imagined Tom Brady throwing to Wes Welker, Randy Moss, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski. :L

You sound like a whiny child. WAAAAAH, the Broncos fans think their team is going to beat the Patriots! WAAAAAH. How dare they! :bawling:

I'm one who does think it could be a Denver blowout. So what? I see the Patriots this season feasting off of a few very whimpy teams, while getting blown out by a KC team who's not normally known for their explosive offense. I also see a team who scored only 16 last time they played Denver, and a NE team who was staring at a 24-0 deficit in Foxboro. Fact is, if it weren't for some timely turnovers by Denver in that second half, that game would have been a Denver blowout, instead of a close NE win.

Putting up 50 against the Bears defense isn't much to brag about. Swiss Cheese is envious of the holes in the Bears D. Until they prove otherwise, I think the Patriots are closer to the team that got blown out by KC than they are to the juggernaut they historically were. :facepalm3:

NE has a lot of plays you have not seen on film. I'm expecting to see some of them in this game.
I really wish we'd save some of them for the playoffs but we'll use them.
(one example: Develin releasing block and catching the ball in the flats.)

The only thing that will give NE a chance in this game is weather, turnovers and penalties. If none of those three are much of a factor, Denver wins easily. No "football savy NE fan" believes they have a chance without Denver shooting themselves in the foot in this game. :suds:
