Again. What Fumble................

According to Rable and Wyman (Stopped listening to the TV Heads):

A) DK's forward Progress was stopped

B ) His knee was down

I think we got had there

His knee wasn't down when the ball came loose, come on now. Was his forward momentum stopped? i dont think so he was going forward as he was going down. It was 100% a fumble.

I want to add that on the first 2 pt play, that was 2 points. They wouldn't even review it when all scoring plays should be reviewed. His knee hit inbounds and slides out of bounds. But of course the TV review showed the back of the endzone angle and later they showed the sideline angle and he was in.

Unfortunately it was a fumble trying to stretch for that extra half yard. If he just went down the first time he got hit Seattle still has the ball.

No need for that extra half yard. Just go to the ground.

Just watched a bit of the press and MacDonald addressed that. He was of the opinion DK should keep fighting. He said, "We're not going to ask a guy to just go down."

Knee is not down ball is out. People you can use snip-it to clip pictures right off video. All windows platforms have it. Just a FYI for those that don't know.

I get if he's moving the pile but guy wrapped around his leg or foot and took a shot before the second one causing the fumble. Mac's not going to throw DK under the bus but DK needs to be smarter.

DK needs to learn to wrap up the ball better. He has 7 carreer fumbles and i believe they are always when he is fighting for extra yards. I agree to not have him stop fighting, he shouldn't stop fighting he just needs to start putting two hands on the ball.

My thought on the DK fumble is that I don't necessarily mind the effort. Yeah, easy to point at him not going down but that doesn't bother me too much. My problem with it is when you do that, you wrap both arms around the ball and secure it because you 100% know guys are coming to try and knock it out. It's fundamentals taught from the day you start playing. But DK had that thing a foot away from his body carrying it like an egg on a spoon. And not even a case of being near the end zone which we often see. No point to be stretching the ball out there. I think he maybe lost track of where he was in relation to the first down marker. Either way, bad turnover that was honestly a big part of why we lost as it dug us such a deep hole. Not going to belabor the point but not going to be too harsh about the effort either, just the execution.

Other than that, DK played great for the 3rd game in a row. Detroit didn't have any answers for our passing game which I predicted. We match up so well with Glenn's defense and their DBs are no real match for our guys without grabbing, which they did a lot. I was also really happy to see Jake Bobo get some attention. And let's see if Grubb can utilize Barner more from the TE spot. Pharoah Brown is a good blocker ( although he gets a little grabby at times) but he is pretty useless as a pass catcher. Really stoked with how K9 looked in the second half. REally gonna need him being dynamic when we play the Niners, Falcons, Bills. And Geno is a fucking warrior, I don't give a shit what anyone says. Dude is better than a good amount of these 50+ mil a year bums out there. And frankly, I think Geno is better overall as a passer than Russ ever was.

Tough one. Just not enough healthy front line players up front on D to make it work last night. Too many fill-ins.

And that's not bad news I don't think. It means our starters are actually difference makers. If there wasn't a drop-off when they aren't in, I would question whether it was worth it to trade for Leonard Williams and then pay him, whether it was the right move to spend a 1st on Byron Murphy, whether Mafe is emerging as a high quality rusher, etc. I think last night we got our answer. There were dudes out there on D last night that I never heard of.

Hopefully we get at least 2 of Mafe, Williams, & Murphy back out there on Sunday. Hopefully Nwosu is ready to go. And hopefully Love isn't seriously injured.

We'll get back on track here soon when the real defense is on the field.

I also think we got jobbed on the 2-point conversion. I don't really know what Mac was thinking to go for 2 in that spot, but it sure looked to me DK had a shin down in the ez with control before going OB. 1 shin is as good as 2 feet, per rule. There was really no good reason to chase those points in the 3rd quarter though. It put us in a tougher position the rest of the game.

Geno still has a issue with turnovers at bad times. Lets not forget he had 2 sure fire INT's dropped and a fumble that the oline THANKFULLY jumped on but thats rare for us when a olineman gets on the damn ball.

Geno has always done good against the Lions. Coming in he averaged over 320 YPG and 2 TD against them with the hawks. He got 0 TD this game. He is also on pace to throw only 17 TD to match his 17 INT's. I dont care if you throw for a ton of yards if you have a 1 TD to 1 INT ratio PER GAME it's bad!

He was clearly pressing because we were down 2 scores. All of his bad plays were late in the game, down by 2 scores. When they have no fear that you are going to run it makes passing a lot harder.

Yeah it really looked like he caught that. It should have been reviewed by the booth since it was a scoring play, but I think we all know that doesn't actually happen all of the time. They miss blatant stuff a few times a year. I have to think they just didn't take much of a look.

The 2 point attempt there appeared to be the coaching staff misunderstanding the analytics. Late in the game going for two when down 14 is the "correct" move if you look at pure numbers and data from thousands of NFL games and don't consider what is going on specifically in this game right now.

The strategy doesn't apply when you're down 14 with more than a quarter left to play in a game where neither defense was stopping anything.
