Yeah- and if Deltha O'Neal could've had a game like he did vs Trent Green every week I'd have been a happy man, and he'd have been a Hall Of Famer. :)

But- Yes of course! Hopefully he can continue to build of that PS game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Haha I definitely don't expect him to be at that level all year. I hope so as that would mean the offense is being very successful. My guess is once teams actually start game planning and forcing Siemian to have to throw to the middle of the field to be successful we will get our answer to how much he has truly improved. Teams started defending especially the left side of the field and leaving the middle wide open. He has to show the entire field is available for him to throw to. Even this preseason still most of his throws have been more to outside the hashes. So I question how much that has improved.

My take on Trevor is if he doesn't turn the ball over and we run the ball well he will work for the time being with the defense we have. He isn't going to work long term though and he won't work if he turns the ball over in the red zone (or any zone for that matter) but if he can manage the game, have a good supporting run game combined with our defense we can be ok.. Right now my mindset is 8 wins.

This is pretty much my thought as well. I think if Siemian is hoping to be the QB beyond this year for the Broncos he has to show 1) he can stay healthy for an entire season and 2) improvement in his ability to take care of the ball and keep the offense moving. To me his 18-10 TD ratio is a very misleading stat when he had 21 interceptable passes dropped. There were especially a couple in that Cincinnati game that I remember should have been pick-6's. He has to take better care of the football especially that red zone as you talked about.

Yes- Although the Bengals game he put up good stats. The first half was very rocky for him.. He was very lucky that game.

I drove over to Cincinnati for the game- I remember the first half thinking we were going to for sure lose that game. It was very irritating. The Bengls had so many chances and Siemian was not throwing the ball well. Second half he played better. Even on the Sanders touchdown where Sanders came back for the football, it could have been picked as Sanders was pretty open and he under threw him. Bengals dropped 2 pick 6's that game and Shawn Williams dropped another easy pick later on in the game. He's gotta be better then that and become a consistent QB very quickly. Go get it Trevor.

He had a couple of games like that where some big drops by the defense kept the Broncos in the game. I have to give it to him for making them pay for not putting the game away. The Chiefs game that went into overtime is another where he just did not have a good first half but some breaks really kept the Broncos in it and again he made them pay for not putting the Broncos away. Just has to show those flashes more consistently. He had his moments. Honestly for this upcoming game against the Packers I'm looking to see if he does finally attack the middle of the field. I will feel much better about our chances if I see that be a possibility.

I agree with those who have commented that Siemian needs to take things to the next level now that he's won the job. I'm not sure I agree it needs to be this week, though it would be nice to see signs that he's willing and able to do it. Elway and VJ have both emphasized an offense that attacks, and the Siemian of last year certainly doesn't fit that description and this is coming from a voice supporter of the kid. But QBs can evolve and I'm not sold on the idea that Siemian is locked into a "check-down game manager mold" forever just because of one season. It's a different offense with a more dynamic designer running the show and calling the plays and that favors Siemian.

Regarding Jamaal Charles, I've been listening to Broncos Radio 760 on iHeart and both Brandon Kriztal and Andrew Mason (who does solid work in my estimation) seem to think his spot is a lock. Kriztal's theory is the Broncos know exactly where his health level is and this coming preseason game is a chance for Charles to confirm it more so than a make or break moment for him. If this is the case, it's really good news. Our RB depth would be incredible:

Anderson
Booker (will be returning soon)
Charles
Henderson

Janovich the FB

My guess is Ridley and Thompson are both outside looking in unless Booker is unable to go for a couple weeks into the regular season then one of them may get an extended chance to make the team.

Beyond these factors, we already know what the defense will be like this year. I am really curious if putting the QB decision to rest helps the offense and if they can give us a hint they'll improve at least from woeful to adequate. And ultimately I just want to see our players get in and out of this game with no injuries. It's been a tough go lately but amazingly enough we are getting back some pieces in time for the season or shortly thereafter. Let's keep these guys on the field and out of the training room!

Not sure Charles has a spot locked up. Vance Joseph said when commenting about him the other day that this will be a big game for him to see how his knee has healed and how his change of direction, etc is.

At this point I am expecting Ridley and Thompson to be released and Charles I am 50/50 on depending on how he looks during the game. Not sure we can keep 4 RB's.

I think De'Angelo Henderson looking so good really hurts the other guys vying for a spot, because at one point Henderson looked to maybe be that 4th RB and inactive as he learned. Now he looks ahead of the curve and someone we can depend on.

With Booker seeming like he's out for the first weeks give Henderson a shot here and there in Week 1 and 2 to see how he does against real NFL starters. If he kills it then we can release Charles and if not then Henderson can be the inactive 4th every game when Booker comes back healthy.

Charles contract is guaranteed if we keep him week 1. So there is that too. Not sure if that will make a difference from a business stand point or not. Sounds like Booker will be ready to go soon.

Agree on everything except the notion he's like injured season after season. He's got one year under his belt. Shouldn't you have at least TWO seasons before you have to prove your not injury prone. Let's not throw that tag on the poor guy yet. Trying to jinx him I suppose. ;)

I'm one of those who does think - barring injury - Charles has a spot on the roster. I have heard McCoy has added plays specifically for Charles. I guy like Charles can be a bad QB look good - on a short pass.

Well he came into the league with that issue. This goes back to his college days. So the last 2 seasons he has started he has suffered pretty decent injuries. Throw in it seemed like this past year he just kept getting injured more and more. It started with his injury during preseason. Went for a tackle after an interception and hurt his shoulder. Then goes into the season and hurts his non-throwing shoulder. Of course then comes back and messes up his ankle against the Chiefs. So this is more than just one year of him not proving he can stay healthy.

We're talking NFL career. One year, one of your prized O-linemen whiffed his block and the D lineman landed all 300 lbs + on TS and drove his shoulder to the turf. He missed two games. You'd still be in the hospital. When a player gets tackled and it looks routine or he gets injured via non- contact, etc, then your comment would hold validation. Watch the play that injured his shoulder " tough guy " and see how many Qbs in league would be on IR rest of season. I know TS winning job over your beloved Lynch is killing you, but please don't question TS's toughness or availability after what he endured last season with that horrible line. Come on Cd, you ever play football ?

I don't know why I continue to be shocked by some of the things you post. 1) Yes I played football in high school. I played WR and DE. 2) I never claimed that TS isn't tough. He played through some very bad injuries last year. You are the one that just assumed that is what I am saying. I was just commenting that he finds himself banged up a lot. 3) If you are only willing to look at a players' NFL time then you are just setting up for failure at not looking at the full picture. NFL teams spend millions upon millions evaluating players for injuries coming out of college. They find any kind of college injury important information. So yes his torn ACL should count towards the overall picture. 4) Just cracks me up to see you trying to associate me calling TS injury prone and asking me to see if I could handle taking those hits. NFL players take hits all the time. It is part of the game. About half the guys on the field weigh 270+ so that shouldn't be anything to talk about the weight of the player hitting him. That also doesn't negate the fact that his first shoulder injury in preseason was him just diving for a guy and missing. Right now he just has to prove that he can stay healthy. That isn't me saying he can't stay healthy or anything I just want to see him make it through an entire season.

It's been reported that Aaron Rodgers will play only a quarter.

Makes sense. Missing his RT in this one so probably don't want to put him in too much danger knowing Von Miller is planning on playing.

These preseason games are rather boring. I can hardly wait for the regular season to begin.

I honestly like the 3rd and 4th quarters more. The 1st half I'm just holding my breath hoping every player gets up. The 3rd and 4th quarter though to watch those guys fight it out for a few roster spots is very interesting to me.

Usually very few rookies make the teams.

It is true. Like I said those units in the 3rd and 4th quarter are usually fighting over about 3 roster spots. So you have about 40 men fighting for 3 jobs. Every mistake is amplified and every big play is talked about to no end.
