Game Thread: Week 15- Denver Broncos @ Detroit Lions

Overrated, feel-good team ....

The Lions have lost two straight, so their rah-rah HS HC will probably have the team up for a national TV game ....

They've given up 27+ points seven times this season, 35+ three times, and allowed lowly Carolina to score 24

Not sayin' the Broncos will breeze through this game as these odd, late season interdivisonal matchups are hard to predict ie the Christmas debacle vs the Rams ..

But I hesitate to make this an automatic L ... The game is on turf, so it will be fast .... I just hope we come out of this game without any catastrophic knee injuries

The Broncos are certainly capable of going into Detroit and getting a win. Playing the game on Saturday adds an interesting twist for both teams. Which coaching staff will have their team best prepared on a short week? We shall see!

This is true but let's try to focus on the positives.. We won.. I was ragginng on Jeudy when he dropped two passes but decided to drop it after we won.

Lions should be extra motivated to win coming into this one. If we can grab the W from them, this will be a big win vs a good team.

A mid December game between the Broncos and Lions with playoff implications for both teams. Who could’ve guessed that would be the case just looking from the perspective of a couple years ago?

Last week I had a bad feeling about playing the Texans. They were a good team coming off a loss.

Same thing going into this one with the Lions. The difference is they’re a good team that might be in a skid. I actually really like our chances to go in and come away with a win.

I'm surprised the Steelers don't have a tie yet this season .. Seems like they always have one

edit: recently, Steelers had a tie in 2018 and in 2021

Riley Dixon had a very good game vs The Bolts .. Seems like a "two sides of the coin" thing because that means we were punting a lot, but the reality is that NFL teams need to punt, and you had better have a good punter ..

Pat Surtain was directly responsible for the Broncos first TD ... His coverage of Keenan Allen was so good on the crossing route, Herbert had to double clutch and hold the ball an extra second, which allowed Baron Browning to tip the pass, with Cooper intercepting ..

Jared Goff's two lowest rated games this year came against The Bears .. Last week his QB rating was 54.6 and the previous matchup vs Chicago his rating was 68.3 ... The Bears obviously figured something out picking him off 5 times in the two meetings ..

The obvious take away here is just that - take aways ..... If the Broncos are to keep this close and hope to come out of Detroit with a win, we need to force turnovers ...

Here's to Simmons, McMillan and Surtain - and maybe even Jewel - getting game balls

The very first time an AFL team beat an NFL team - was when the Broncos beat the Lions in a pre-season game. Alex Karass was quoted before the game that if the Lions lost, he would walk home. I was there - at an old stadium DU had. On Sunday night = the Lions lose again.

Speaking of Riley... Riley Moss is now the first person down on special teams. Between him, Tremond Smith and Delarrin Turner-Yell our punt coverage has been excellent this year.
