I desperately want a new coach. I want to be clear. Zac Taylor has not given any indication that he knows what he is doing and in fact he looks more incompetent that just about any coach I've ever seen. I think Freddie Kitchens and Vance Joseph were better coaches than Zac. The only success he's had has been when a very special talent has been under center. Zac shouldn't get credit just because he was bad enough to earn the right to draft Burrow.

I don't see the change happening though. I honestly think any sort of change would have to be accompanied by self-reflection that would implicate Duke Tobin's role in the disaster of the last 5 years. A team this comically inept in drafting or developing line talent must have some serious issues in the scouting and player personnel department. I can't imagine the Bengals acknowledging these issues.

What I expect is that the Bengals will play the "look how good we would have been without injuries" card. They'll point to the investments in defense that weren't given a chance due to injury. They'll point to the offensive production with Joe Burrow at QB. The efficiency of an offense that had line issues. They'll resolve to repair the offensive line via free agency and continue to build the rest of the team through the draft. Some of this is reasonable - They would have a better D with the higher priced guys playing. The offense was extremely efficient even without a pro line. But, the team is mismanaged. And even if the talent improves, I don't think anyone can truly say that this staff is the group that can get the most out of the potential. But I'm not sure it matters.

It's sad that it's even a discussion. That should tell anyone all they ever need to know about this organization.

Again, only one other coach going back to the 1940's has been as bad as ZT with the amount of games he's coached. The reason for that is - every other franchise fires inept coaches long before they are able to coach this many games. It would be comedy if it weren't so damn sad.

Imagine how disheartening it is to be a Cowboys fan right now. Their D is so bad that they give up chunk plays to the Bengals. And, they blew their draft position.
