I guess since we are having a season after all I'll throw in some of my thoughts.

1) Chiefs leadership and media probably needed to step up a little more in the offseason with regards to where the team name is, where the stance is with BLM, etc. Not a good look for the Chiefs Kingdom if thats even going to be a thing moving forward. I feel like the team on the field works its butt off to have a clear identity so the organization needs to do that as well. If you get ahead of issues and handle them right, you avoid messes. If you leave a vacuum then it will get filled.

2) Low-key one of the big changes on the team is the new look on the oline. Dr. LDT is out and Keleche Osemele is in at LG which has generally been the weak spot on the oline to my knowledge. I don't expect him to be a pro bowler or anything but it looks like the Chiefs have 4 average starters and a pro bowl RT. To my knowledge, thats the best the oline has been in years. Not the best performance on the goal line at all, though. Not sure what to make of that. Red Zone D was a weakness of theirs last year so I'm sure that was one of their big sticking points in their offseason so maybe they figured something out.

3) I'm looking at the snap counts and the Chiefs ran a lot of packages against the Texans with only 1 linebacker. Dorian O'Daniel listed as a linebacker is a bit generous, too, as he is more of a spy specialist (and former teammate of Watson). They seem to beat the Texans based almost on scheme and stars alone. The eyeball test tells me that the are about 2 players away from being a good defense. I guess the question becomes: am I wrong about any of these guys? Or how many teams on the schedule can make these guys look bad? Not sure. What I do know is that the Chiefs have shown what their defense looks like when other teams try to play with the same style as the Chiefs. Its going to be hard to beat the Chiefs that way imo.

4) CEH looked like CEH from college. I saw that he made 7 people miss tackles last night. CEH cuts like DWade in grass. I feel like Damien Williams would have complimented him well but it is what it is. The thing that makes CEH deadly is Kelce is going to move someone around either in coverage or blocking which means that CEH probably only needs to make one person miss on certain plays and on other plays he can just wait out the blocking. If teams stack the box, it opens up Hill for a quick out because you can't press Hill. Mahomes should almost never have to run the ball. The big trick for the Chiefs is just going to be keeping everyone healthy.

5) Chiefs routinely beat the Texans blitz with crossing routes 1 on 1 just because their WRs are so fast. Not sure teams are going to blitz Mahomes a lot but I get why the Texans did. Their pass rush was clearly the best part of their D unit.

Its hard not to be optimistic about this group. Good start to the season on the field.
