Camp fodder... But then again, he is probably better than the Bears current safeties.

He isn't. I rate him as an equal to Conte who I view as easily the worst safety in the division. Between him and the Mundy signing where do you guys think this is going? That is a step back even for what you had last year IMO

I'm thinking is, bring everyone you can in and let the chips fall where they will. Real options here will come in the draft.

Not trying to rain on your parade but our safeties sucked, so getting M. Jennings probably isn't something to celebrate. It was probably the weakest spot on our team. I'm not a Bear basher either. Just not big on Jennings. I've always hated the Vikings way more than the Bears or Lions, in fact when Chicago was last in the Super Bowl I rooted for them.

It's all good, we know. However as bad as your safeties were, ours were worse last year, in fact if you and I put on pads and tried out for the Bears safety spot we could have made the team.

the Packers weakest link is their undisciplined defensive coordinator. If Jennings works out for us, it's because the Pack misused his talents. Not a bad long shot for us to take.

Mundy plays strong safety. Where Major Wright played. Probably an up grade there.
I have to disagree W/ you. Conte was the worst safety in all of football. That includes High school. JMO
But even if Jennings sticks ( I won't rule out a draft pick), he's an upgrade.:suds:

Mundy and Jennings are both bad but its never a bad idea to throw a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what sticks.

Jennings was awful and had terrible ball skills. He claim to fame was being hosed on the Fail Mary.

He constantly took bad angles and let people get behind him. He was a great tackler either. I wanted him to work out because of the built in nickname but oh well...the doctor is out now.

I honestly really don't think Mundy was bad at all. MD... well, fine... sure... he may suck.

I know a couple of Giants fans who told me he was REALLY good playing up in the box against the run. After all, he led the Giants entire defensive unit in tackles up until he got hurt in week 7. Just struggled a bit in coverage. However, they also said he's a great athlete who has a high ceiling in the right system. I'm actually a bit optimistic about him.

don't expect anyone else on here to agree with me on this..but...

safeties have two main jobs. 1) is stop touchdown type passes. 2) when the running back breaks loose, make sure he doesn't score a TD.

Statistics and TV say that a RB who evades a strong safety tackle means the strong safety screwed up. When a RB evades a free safety, that's just risk, because there is too much variable in the RB route by then.

I think Conte is mediocre, but normal. Not "worst in the NFL." to blame the free safety for the whole run D sucking and then on highlights saying "last man chasing it was his fault" is naive. Conte was mediocre, not great nor terrible. His tackling was good, which many safeties are worse at, and guys, if your safety can't tackle, why believe in them? Major Wright? MD Jennings?

Sorry Cali. Got to disagree w/ you. Conte sucks.Period , End of story. Being the last line of D, he did a horrible job. Of his Ints' the only 1 that I can recall he actually made a good play, was week 17 vs the pack. He came off his guy and intercepted ARod in the end zone. Most of his Ints' were tipped balls made other players who actually made a play. Oh and going back to week 17. He could have won that game twice.
He let a ball go through his amrs:gaah: right into waiting Packer wr's. Oh and we all know what happened on that 4th & 7 to decide the game. Though he no knowledge of the D play call, he didn't call a time out . Knowing the importance of the play. But decided to run his own D . This clown should be driven out of town, being dragged on the back end of 2 strong horses. Being mediocre would have won us that game.:suds:

MD Jennings is a great safety. That is if you want your safety to be running one way while the ball is thrown to the wide open receiver he was supposed to be covering the other way. Seriously he is that bad. And its not just one or two mental breakdowns a game, its as if the guy never even read or studied the playbook. He started all 16 games out of pure necessity. By the 3rd quarter of the first preseason game you should see what I mean.

:lame:Talking about players who have failed , and wanting them to is 2 different things.
I'd like to see Conte succeed. Unfortunately I doubt that's going to happen.
