Oh man, I sooo agree! Alex is just one HC away from the Super Bowl! It is not his fault we haven't found him yet!
Not that I'm defending Smith, but isn't this his 8th new offense? or somewhere close to it?

I'm still pissed off that we didn't sign Matt Hasselbeck in FA, and decided to go with Alex Smith for another year. I don't know if Hasselbeck is better, but he's a former pro-bowler and a Superbowl QB who has much more to offer Kaepernick than Smith. He's played in a WCO virtually his entire career, knows the division, and is a perfect stopgap for Optimus Prime.
Not that it proves my argument, but I was listening to Mike & Mike in the Morning and they were jumping up and down about the fact that we didn't even entertain Matt Hasselbeck. Instead, he goes to Tennessee to be the stopgap for Jake Locker.
I'm really, really sick of Alex Smith holding this franchise hostage every year. I want Kap to start as soon as he knows the playbook. He's much more physically gifted, much more dynamic, and he'll learn absolutely nothing just sitting on the bench watching Smith crumble in the pocket.
Another guy we should've gave a look:

The post had nothing to do with Alex. I had to do with starting a second round rookie. Do you feel comfotable going into the year with that? I sure dont.
Honestly, with what we have on the roster today, who gives us a better chance of winning...Smith or Kap?
Maybe not but the older you get the longer it takes to recover from any kind of injury.
Btw.. don;t get me wrong.. I was hoping Hass would sign with the NIners. BUt after the first pre-season game, I was thinking he could have been really hurt taking the same hits both Alex and Kap took
He's not any more injury prone than Alex Smith. The last two years Alex Smith missed 10 games, Hasselbeck only 4.
Uhm, Alex didn't miss games in 2009 because of injury. Hill was named the starter out of camp, wasn't he? Last year, Smith was injured of course, but at the end of that 5 game stretch... wasn't Alex healthy, but Singletary still didn't want to start him because of how bad he was playing before the injury.
So, according to this, Smith was cleared on Nov. 15th, but the Singletary stuck with Troy because the 49ers won the two games Alex missed.
Smith cleared to play
Alex only missed 2 games to injury the past two seasons, but 8 games because of his tendency to under-perform and lose football games.
The only way we would've signed him is if we matched the Titans 3-year deal. Would you still be in favor of signing him if that's what it took?
IIRC Alex Smith was still recovering from shoulder injury when Hill was named starter. And claiming that Alex Smith didn't miss those games because of injury is a cop-out. He went out because he got injured, and that led to Troy Smith "stealing" those two games from him.
If we was, then sure, one should attribute losing the QB competition to being injured; and missing those 5 games in 2009. I was just under the impression that Shaun Hill was Singletary's preferred player because choosing Hill over JTO in 2008 pretty much turned the offense around and helped Singletary get the HC job in 2009.
Now that you mention it though, I think that I do remember people talking about his shoulder still not being 100% going into 2009.
I wanted the Niners to draft Colt Mccoy but Hass while decent is a stiff breeze away from IR. The way the Saints Blitzed right now we'd be going doh... back to Alex. I am hoping Kap gets up to speed and at most I only have to stomach 16 more games of Alex.
