If you have a player on your team that experiences cramps that result in gameplay being stopped, I think we need to up the time required for that player to remain off of the field.

Be it the rest of the series or an established number of plays, I think something needs to be done. Too many occurrences happening at pivotal moments of games.

What say you lot?

Who is to decide whether or not the player has cramps? This may not occur until the player is on the sideline. We can't make doctors out of refs.

Fuck it.

Let the "cramped" player lay on the field and we play around him for every down forward. IF said player magically gets up, it is an immediate 15 yard penalty and the player is ejected.

If the defense doesn't want the penalty, then they need to call a timeout and said player can't be on the field the entire rest of the series.

It will still be a 15 yard penalty for douche-baggery. Hell. Maybe even 30.

We don't leave injured players on the field. No one can be sure if it's cramps until medical personnel examine them.

They sure as hell did back in the day.

I say we bring that shit back. We can all see when a player is actually hurt.

What most are saying is if they have cramps, they should be taken off the field asap and sit out that series at least. If it's enough to stop play, then they should take time on the sideline rehydrating. There are instances when players have been instructed to fake cramps to stop the game. If you enjoy that, then watch soccer or basketball where flopping is part of the game. Football has enough stoppage already and getting worse each year with more reviews etc.

While we're at it, can we flag QBs for flopping?

If they make that rule for cramps, what stops people from faking a rolled ankle or a hurt arm?

Whatever the injury, if play has to be stopped for an injured player, he should have to sit out the rest of the series. Doesn't matter if it is cramps, turf toe, concussion or toothache. That will take care of that issue.

That would be my thought. I don't think singling out cramps will work.

Leave it to those two fuckos to take words in quotation marks literally.

Just so you assholes know, nobody likes a contrarian. If you hadn't figured that out by now.

This is no longer "back in the days." This little thing called lawsuits and public opinion would destroy anyone that actually proposed this.

The problem is, that you don't really know what's wrong until a medical person goes out on the field to check out the player.

True they are not doctors, but in the name of safety, the player should stay on the sideline until there is a change of possession. Amazing how the number of cramps would subside.

No one is going to sue, well at least not and win, if you require a player who is hurt or "hurt" to miss the entire series getting rest and therapy.

A lot of suggestions, and I'm not opposed to anything reasonable. Coaches could adjust to this by having lesser important players have "cramps." On the other hand, it is reasonable that players do get cramps. Perhaps we can increase the number of plays that the player must sit, if the game has to be stopped.

If a player is not attended to, because they think he is faking it, then you risk the wrong "diagnosis" and the player could die. It's better to err on the side of caution.
