It seems like there's a new "can't miss" Cuban every couple months. There is some rule where if you sign one for a lot of money you can't sign any more for a year or something, but eventually they have to pull the trigger on one of these guys. Amaro seems to be hesitant to do anything that hasn't already worked for the Phillies in the past. They got Abreu as a rule 5 and ever since they have been desperately chasing that, trying to find another gem (to the point of keeping Michael Martinez in the majors for an entire season, lol). Maybe we need that pitcher (Gonzalez) to have a great spring and make the rotation before they will sign another Cuban.

On a side note, their new Rule 5 guy looks promising. Not much power but I think he won the batting title in one of the winter leagues. It would be nice to have a utility infield type guy that could actually hit a little.
