Guy might have never even been on the teams radar. Who knows. Not going to stress over who we didnt get. More interested in who we did get and what we can and will do with them. Every one seems ready to write off Rak. I think he is going to make that a very very hard choice for this team.

i feel like im the only one calling for us to resign rak so we could have our three headed monster for many years. why not resign rak until murphy's rookie contract is over? but then again i might not know as much about our cap space than others.

The question becomes how much do we invest in the OLB position? Are we going to put 25 million into the position/season?

Let RAK earn his next contract this season.

Martinez.... I do look at our cap situation. Resigning Rak wont be a problem money wise. Its all about his production at this point.

it is all in rak's hands now as far as if he wants a big contract . but really are any of you going to change your mind about him if he goes 13-15 sacks ?

will he all of a sudden be "elite " in your eyes ? i doubt it . you will want to low ball him or cut ties thinking taking a step down in talent will get it done

In the eyes of some he wont be elite until the talking heads proclaim him elite.

If he jumps to 13-15 sacks, I'd pay him accordingly.

If he is still sitting at 10 sacks, I'd offer him a contract accordingly.

If he goes elsewhere, that's life. I say this about every player.

IF he is getting around 70-80 percent of the sacks that an "elite" OLB is getting, when he is only rushing the QB about 70-80% as much as the "Elite" OLBs out there... exactly how does that not make him just as productive??

Again, we don't really have those metrics. If the statement is true, then yes, he's productive as long as he's not a liability doing the other things asked of him when not rushing.

GMs do have access to those metrics and they are going to be very accurate.

You dont need exact metrics. The eyeball test gives you a pretty solid idea. Comparatively how many times do you see Ware, MAtthews or the other "elite" LB's dropping into coverage?

he's proven that he makes everyone around him better. sacks are over rated. its the same thing with suh, the sacks arent as high as people would like but for DTs he is top 3 in pressuring the qb every season.

The eyeball test says he's not as good as Ware...Matthews I do believe he's every bit as good as because I think Matthews is highly overrated. You mention the eyeball test but I rarely, if ever, see RAK drop.
