That true, but in the real world the mid-majors cannot afford to lose games at any time of the year. Teams with 27 -5 records have been left out, while 19-13 have gotten as they were allowed to mature. A 27-5 team (and this has happened) that wins its season but losses its conference tournament championship game should never get bounced for a 19-12 7th place P6 team that got nowhere in its tournament.Head to head may have been on a neutral floor, or maybe it was at a rival's home court, or maybe the best player was hurt, or it may have been a game in November and its now March, who knows? Head to head means something if it's a championship game like a conference game. It's called a "season" for a reason. Teams get seasoned for the end of the year tournament.
