Meltdown? That is a bit harsh.

WVU lost to the #6 team in the country by 1 point, and to the #11 team by 6.

Jeff Long never inferred the Big 12 got left out b/c of naming co-champs. It's because Ohio St played a 13th game and TCU, Baylor didn't.

Your joking right???? We may have lost games at the end of the season, but by no means was it a four alarm meltdown...we were competitive in every game with a argument for Texas. Va Techs season and our season had totally different tones.

We were ranked #20, some were predicting us to win the conference. Then we lose 3 of our last 5 games. Yes we were competitive and should have won two of those games. We end up unranked with only one more win than a horrible VT Team and in a 3 way tie for 4th in the conference. We surely did not have a 4 alarm meltdown, as in 2012, but nobody can say we played well from the 2nd Quarter of the TCU game until Skylar came in against Kansas State.

If we win two of those games, we are a top 15 team and Baylor's loss looks much more respectable. In the end, OSU lost to a 6-6 team and Baylor lost to a 7-5 team. I am sure that the committee said many times when comparing that both OSU and Baylor lost to unranked teams. Just beating Texas would have likely had us ranked at the end of the year and Baylor could have claimed a quality loss. One more win against a top 15 team could have changed the outlook of the committee.

WVU lost to the #6 team in the country by 1 point, and to the #11 team by 6.

With both of those games being essentially given away with key turnovers. We also lost to unranked Texas.
After showing that we had a good enough team to compete, we underpreformed. TCU and Kansas State did not beat us, we beat ourselves. Meltdown may sound harsh, but we did lose 3 of our last 5 after a 5-2 start with close losses to very good teams.

I am not saying that I was not impressed with WVU this year, or that we would not kick the crap out of VT.

Anyway, Puck Baylor. I'm glad that we ruined their season.

OSU gave up 35 points at home to a team who highest output of the season was 35 only matched when they beat Western Michigan...they were 98th in the country in scoring.

Yeah the records 6-6 and 7-5 are not that far off, but if anyone is watching college football I think they would mostly agree those two L's are not that close in comparison and we were a lot tougher out than a team lost 6-3 to Wake Forest in Overtime.

Our loss to a 6-6 Texas was a better loss than tOSU's to a 6-6 VT.

Texas has a Sagarin ranking of #36 w/ an SOS of #16. VT had a Sagarin ranking of #50 with an SOS of #49.

In the end, they could say that both Baylor and OSU lost to one unranked team and beat 3 ranked teams. Had they looked at the quality of the losses, Baylor should have been in. Put WVU in at #20 and I see no way they could have put OSU in over Baylor.

:agree:

If the committee looked at it that way, Baylor should have been in. Without the loss to Texas, we are a top 25 team and Baylor's loss looks nowhere near as bad as OSU/VT.

On the bright side, had we won out from TCU on, as we may have despite injuries to our QB, we would be the ones complaining that we were B12 champs and were screwed by the committee.

No doubt the fact WVU lost to Texas hurt both BU and TCU. However, the biggest hit to those two came when OU lost to Okie St in the Bedlam.

At that point, both teams lost a top 25 win.

I have been saying for the last 2 years that the perception of non-Big12 folks is that the B12 is a game shy of everyone else and our "champion" is not going to be awarded the same acclaim as the winner of a conference championship game. I was told that I was crazy - the B12 has a true champ, the others are just in beauty contest.

Well, the proof is in the playoff picks - no matter what you or I think about it, the PERCEPTION out there is the B12 champ isn't as deserving because they didn't have to play in a CCG. Probably, the B12 not being willing to pick a champion itself and allowing the co-champ status didn't help. I think the committe decided that if the B12 wasn't willing to determine their own champion - the committe wasn't going to do it for them. So they went with a conference champ with no confusion.

Get at least 2 more teams into the B12 (14 may be better). Have a CCG and be done with it. Sure, it dilutes the payout, but enhances (with more $$$) the TV contracts. Over time, it's a win-win.

Get it done or continue to be on the outside looking in
