Multiple sources told FOXSports.com that there is virtually no chance Sanu will re-sign with the Bengals. Sanu will instead pursue opportunities elsewhere when the free-agent signing period begins March 9.

Sanu said Thursday that his agent Mike McCartney "hasn't really said anything about communication with the Bengals" regarding a new contract.

"We're just being patient," Sanu told me on SiriusXM NFL Radio while attending a post-football planning seminar held by Priority Sports and Entertainment. "You never know as the next couple weeks heat up. We'll see what happens."

Cleveland, Atlanta and the New York Giants are among the teams expected to express interest in signing Sanu, who has spent all four of his NFL seasons with the Bengals after being a 2012 third-round pick out of Rutgers.

Sources: Mohamed Sanu likely won't re-sign with Cincinnati Bengals

He's a #3 WR who will get paid to be a #2.

What a time to be alive

could be a sign we've singled out Marvin Jones. I don't think Mike Brown will like the inflationary asking price though.

He didn't seem to get better from his rookie year to his last year here.... Maybe he's just limited in his ability as a receiver? Regardless.... Someone will pay him.

he had a string of games where he was making a difference, and then something happened. he had a series of drops and I think a fumble or two that put him in the dog house. he was relegated to take a back seat to Jones thereafter and never really rebounded from that. of course he'll do quite well with a staff that believes in his athletic ability. if he played for New York he might be worth picking in fantasy draft.

My only fear is that we are another step from either Tate, Alford, or Wright being the opening week #2 receiver. That's scary.

You can take that further back. He really never improved since College. He couldn't separate as a route-runner then, and he still can't. He can only play the Slot semi-effectively, as proven by his league-leading 20% drop rate when he tried to replace Marvin Jones on the outside. And, not being able to separate while playing the clogged up area of the Slot Receiver, is a bad combination. He's not only easily replaceable, but it's pretty easy to get more production from that position. He's certainly not worth more than the money he was getting paid and now he'll get a raise somewhere. The Slot Receiver is the #5 option on the Bengals' Offense after Green, Eifert, Gio and whoever lines up opposite Green. That's not a position that should be paid anything more than a Rookie contract or Veteran Minimum.

that is most likely the way the Bengals see it.

don't worry though, if no one wants him, he'll be a fixture.
