Flames beat writer from earlier today:

Who is Calgary's goalie coach? Does he have eyes? Does he watch hockey games?

The Jackets are believed to be trading this year’s first-round draft pick (No. 24 overall) and a prospect (not Pierre-Luc Dubois or Sonny Milano) to Vegas for assurances that the Golden Knights will select either left wing Matt Calvert, center William Karlsson or defenseman Ryan Murray.

Vegas’ acquisition of the contract of injured veteran forward David Clarkson ($5.25 million salary cap hit) may also be part of the deal.

I mattolaed this in the 'Lumbus thread, but I'll ask it here... which of those exposed players is worth anywhere near that? These are not core pieces they're protecting.

You left out the part that will make 43 crazy.

Sources around the NHL have indicated to The Dispatch that the Blue Jackets have reached agreement with the Vegas Golden Knights on a trade that will be announced during the expansion draft Wednesday in Las Vegas. With this trade the Blue Jackets will pay dearly to dissuade the Golden Knights from taking Anderson, Korpisalo or one of the veteran defensemen — Jack Johnson or David Savard — that they would have exposed.

lol - He was on a high regarding some great feedback on his son's goaltending exploits, I didn't feel like spoiling the mood.

I just don't get CBJ's point here. It would be like the Penguins saying " hey, don't take Kunitz but feel free to take Guentzel"

Hey sbb, count the Cups, Kunitz has more than Wayne Gretzky (plus Olympic gold as well), proven winner.

Las Vegas is fleecing the Jackets big time with that deal. Don't think Columbus will do that.

What a position Vegas is in.
They can extort assets by merely threatening to take players.

I would love to be a fly on the wall for some if these conversations.
Hopefully someone is documenting it for a future 30 in 30 or something

Never underestimate the power of the Bald, Finnish fuckwit.

It's gotta be all Torts wanting to Keep Johnson. He's a "pro" I bet.

So in two years when Torst has left us a flaming mess, we will still have Johnson and not Murray.

My only hope is that McPhee is still stupid and takes Calvert and not Murray.

LV making back door deals for picks...but they could simply take some of these players available and have a decent roster already.

Its easy to look at everyone they can choose, but 7 will have to take assignments in the AHL too if they choose one from each team.
