Murray won the 1st set.
Great article on why the Citi Open in DC isn't a part of the US Open Series anymore.
It's basically because ESPN owns the rights to all US Open Series broadcasts, and they weren't planning on showing ANY of the early round coverage on ESPN networks.
We should be very happy we had Tennis Channel doing the Citi Open and currently the Rogers Cup stuff in Canada.
Next week, ESPN isn't showing any early round coverage in Cincy.
Washington D.C.'s Citi Open out of US Open series due to TV deal - Tennis - SI.com
...ESPN only offered Washington four hours of coverage on traditional television (ESPN2), with an option for the tournament to purchase an additional two hours, leaving the rest of the tournament to wallow in the hinterland of ESPN3.
"We're the only 500 series tournament in America, so I thought 'God, that's not a very good deal,'"
Spotting an opportunity, Tennis Channel pounced on a loose end that ESPN had left dangling.
Not thrilled with ESPN, but at least it is better than NBC or CBS whatever the major network was that used to cover it.
I'm a freaking idiot. I just realized that due to the schedule change at the US Open this year, the Sunday grounds admission ticket I bought is for the round of 16 and not the 3rd round....Pretty bummed out as I wanted 3rd round tickets instead
Agree, it was a good game. What a battle this has been. The 5th game of the set is currently at 16+ minutes
ESPN coverage is not the greatest when it comes to the non majors but when it comes to the Grand Slams event I am very thrilled with espn
Why the 3rd round?
We had a lot of coverage up here of course. But once it got to CBC only.....
If the men were starting before the women you were off to watching it off you 'puter, which I do not do.
When CBC takes over the only have the one channel for TV. At least TSN (5) and SportsNet (3 or 4?) can cover more that one thing at a time.
It would just be nice if they shut up about the other concurrent match,
