It's probably just coincidence, but damn Nadal is good at avoiding Federer in matches that favor Fed (both surface and form). If Fed was as good at dodging Nadal on Rafa's surfaces, their head to head would be tight.

If Dimitrov lose this match he won't be able to recover from this in time for the open and will lose by the 3rd round. This would be devastating considering he was up a double break in the 2nd and served for the match in the 3rd

murray looking taxed against dimitrov in a best of 3 doesn't speak very well to how he'll do against the likes of nole in a best of 5.

his defense is unreal, though. he's retrieving everything, and just waiting for dimitrov to go for too much, and it works.

Dimitrov played well. I think Ortegren will help him clear his head, and I really like his game. So many options for him, he gets overwhelmed.

Rasheed was a great fitness coach for him, but it's going to end up being a good thing he dumped him, and even better that he dumped Sharapova.

Pretty crazy that both Nole and Murray were down a double-break in a must-win set and came back to win today. How often do you see that?

That's gotta be tough for Dimitrov, getting thoroughly outworked and out-thought against a guy with no real reason to care about the match who was executing terribly for most of the night. This wasn't supposed to be happening to him at age 24. He's taken a BIG step back this year.

There's no way Dimitrov goes into the open with anything but positive thoughts.

He took a 2 time major winner who just beat Nole last week to the brink in only his 2nd tournament with a brand new coach.

He'll be a solid top 10 player and a perennial threat for the 2nd week when he gets it together again.

Lol what a ridiculous statement. Up double break in the 2nd and serving for the match up a break in the final set.....and he's heading into the open with positive thoughts? There's no positive that he can take out of the match. He choked. End of story

When you'r up a double break you're supposed to win that set. He did not
When you're serving for that match up a break, you should be able to close out the match. He did not.

This was a devastating match for Dimitrov and don't expect him to get out of the 3rd round at the US Open unless he gets a crazy favorable draw

Fish up a break down a set vs Murray

It was nice to see Fish break Murray back late in the 1st set. Even though he'd get broken again quickly and lose the sit.

nole is smart, and he has one of the best teams in the world behind him. he's has had a long couple of weeks making both the montreal and cincy finals.

fed is fresh as a daisy since he hasn't played since Wimbledon.

i expect nole to give maybe 80% today. if he can stay in the middle of the court and control points, he'll stay in them, but he'll go for a lot more lower percentage shots than usual if he has to start running.

can't wait for the open to start next in a little over a week.
