Sammie never really had a chance with his injuries to go with Jeff Fisher coaching

His selfishness is what got him removed from our team as well as Philadelphia! :thumb:

You just don't get it

You don't need to draft a QB #1 overall to get the right QB.

Derek Carr was a second round pick.

Dallas' last 2 QB's were an UDFA and a 4th round pick.

Rodgers went #24

For every Peyton, there are multiple flops at #1 QB

You can brag about your crush all you want, but the truth is, he's done nothing since his rookie season. These records you speak of mean nothing if they don't equal success

They were picking #1 though? You saying they should have just passed is completely unrealistic.

Oh please block me again! You obviously don't have a clue when it comes to evaluating QB's. Just ask Austin Davis. :dhd: As you can see by Vita's post it doesn't matter if Sam throws short, middle or especially Deep he is one of the most DEADLY accurate QB's in the NFL. :nono: Oh and Smed lets not forget he did all this with the worst OL and running game in the NFL!! Think about that... Defenses knew he was going to pass because they couldn't run and despite nickel and dime coverages Sam still shredded them when he had his 3 seconds to throw.

Again with the regurgitation! Oh poor Sammy had the worst oline and No running game, again how many times are you going to tell us that, come up with something new? Then Sammy "shredded" defenses with his 3 yard laser like throws, please!!!!

I dont understand the hate for him on this board? He was always the best teammate and complete Pro? and still is. Have you ever heard anything thing negative about him from his team mates? On any team? NOPE.

Yeah Zimmer and the Vikes better get off their ass and open up their Wallet and pay Sam !!

Was never a big Sammie fan when they drafted him, only began to hate him after all the Coug Bullshit started flying, so its not really Sammys fault, it's because of the Cougster!

Sammy doesn't get all of his passing yards from DINK/DUNK passing! They come from the receiver gaining yards after the catch!
Geez zeke, why do you two keep making me post 'Just the facts, man' type of posts here.

The 'Down field passing' stats are from passes of 20 yards or more in the air' as identified in the article in the Ryan tweet.

You are right in one regard though, Sam still contributed to many of his total passing yards from dink and dunk passing, as he rated a lowly 23rd in total air yards.

You will never ever get it!!!!!! We could gave traded down and gotten a couple other picks that maybe would still be starting for us, or we could have taken Suh the safe pick. There are more number 1 QB picks that fail or are average than become studs, like ALR said, if you do your homework you can find stud QBs later and that's a proven fact! How did David Carr work out for Houston? Oh he didn't, and why is that Coug, please explain to us all why that didn't work out!!!!

I'll save you the trouble, he had no offensive line!!!!!!

I agree with this, Coug can't have it both ways, if Sam had a running game than he likely has an ~2K yard passing season as there would likely be less dinks and dunks required.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but occasionally in the "Sammy" offense you are going to hit some big deep passes? The whole defense is playing closer to the line because it's either going to be a run or a 3 yard pass, they don't worry about Sammy going deep, so it plays into Sammys favor when it does happen???

Gentlemen. I get it that you are addressing the present issue but as SJ has already stated, this will get out of hand like gasoline on a fire. Take this discussion over to the appropriate thread if you are addressing the Sammie issue directly or through insinuation or indirectly.

Picking a qb #1 over all (with no offensive support) is like throwing a pork chop(Sammy) to a bull dog(opposing defenses)

At least we weren't the Bears. :L 2017 NFL Draft Team Grades - WalterFootball.com

I like this part of the Bears write-up and reminded me of what the Rams had done with Suh.

The disaster began early when the Bears allowed the 49ers to con them into trading up to No. 2. They then made the mistake that numerous incompetent teams have made over the years, as they reached for a middling quarterback prospect over a superior talent. This has always backfired. Take a look at some examples from this decade alone:

- The Jaguars picked Blaine Gabbert over J.J. Watt
- The Titans picked Jake Locker over J.J. Watt and Tyron Smith
- The Vikings picked Christian Ponder over Robert Quinn
- The Dolphins picked Ryan Tannehill over Luke Kuechly
- The Jaguars picked Blake Bortles over Khalil Mack

Didn't like any of those QBs other than Bortles. Surprised he hasn't put it together, just too turnover prone.

To Smed comments in the other thread... this isn't "first pick game this is the real NFL'. NFL teams don't pass on a QB at #1 when they need one. Show me a team that has? Browns needed one this year but Garrett was rated way to higher then any of the QB's. That would have been a big time reach. Sam was a no brainer because he was rated the same as Suh. News flash. you can draft OL later in the draft to? The Rams did but missed big time.

Or it could be the perfect deep passes out of the defenders hands?

Something else you guys don't think about is if you're the coach or GM of the Rams and you have a 3 or 4 year window to fix the team and your job is gone if you don't... are you going to take a QB or a DT?

Absolute horseshit!!! Don't start that crap again, I PROVED to you a while back that Suh was above and beyond everyone it that draft... He was a GUARANTEED star, which almost NEVER happens...

Sorry you're wrong. They were graded about the same and even if Suh was graded a little bit higher it didn't justify taking a DT over a quarterback. This year's draft it was a huge gap between Garrett and the next quarterback. BTW how many SB's does Suh have over Sam?
