If we get a huge piece that instantly becomes a position player starter with considerable control, why not?

What I meant was, Howard wouldn't be a key part of that trade. He would be a toss-in dude. Yay for the Rangers making that trade, but it would take 2-3 more valuable pieces leaving along with Howard.

Ok. Well here’s to hoping coddling spurs him to being a tad more valuable. Time will tell how this all pans out. And yes they thought he was valuable enough to think he was worth tossing in Crouse which I agree was a head scratcher

coddled or not maybe he can be moved as a part of an even better piece. This off-season is not only about free agency but also the trade market
Think the trade market is the most important part of this off-season we have a number of players I would like to see moved

Serious question for everyone.
Being that Hans is 22 and Howard is 25
Would y’all have made that trade straight up.
1 for 1?
I wouldn’t have..
So why did we do that overall package??
I’m still shocked.
I feel like we could have got a pitcher with a little more upside in AA and possibly a AA bat that was doing well.
i guess it doesn’t matter now.. but damn

I just hope by the time the off-season is over they acquire 3 potent bats.
FA or trade.
We need some OBP/SLG OPS
I think our pitching staff will surprise a lot of people on the outside.
I also think we have a nice supporting cast with our depth
Wouldn’t be opposed to trading IKF, Spencer Howard and Leclerc to help acquire what we need
I think there’s only room for one low SLG % player and that’s yonny who atleast has a high obp

I would have traded Folty and Lyles for Howard straight up. Or more honestly, I wouldn't have paid Howard any attention whatsoever.

I give JD a lot of leeway, but that was one of the worst trades I've seen any team ever make.

Don’t have a clue but obviously the FO thought they did and they make the decisions

Ok I will bite. The difference maker for the FO is that they think Howard profiles more as SP than Crouse who has lost some velocity. Now Crouse has polished up and IMO has more moxy than Howard. I do think Howard pitch variety profiles more as a SP
But yeah there is some risk. I wanted to keep Crouse but if Howard becomes a good pitcher in the rotation then the trade will prove successful
The whole league knew he was a project regardless but had upside
We shall see

Very nice list. I made my personal opinion changes in bold
And thank you for not including Steele Walker. I don’t believe he’s even top 45
I made the list before Alexy came up. I will do another one after the season and Alexy and Otto probably won't even be considered prospects any longer.

Can't say I'm thrilled with that idea. He would be a tack-on in any trade package, and considering what we gave up for him, that would be an unmitigated disaster to trade him off so quickly.
I think that ship has sailed. It was simply a terrible deal. There is more hope for Gowdy than him, I think.

No, and that is how Keith Law felt about it as well.

Howard screams relief pitcher. Crouse does not.

Who are some sleeper type trade candidates y’all could see us going after this off season?

Not sure I see the Rangers making many trades in the offseason this year.

In related tank news, both the BALs and the PITs are at home in their current series. The O's have KC and the Bucs have the Tigers.

I think if we make any trades it will be to alleviate where we have extra prospects or young players at certain positions. If we do that, I see us getting younger prospects back.

Having Harris, Crim and maybe Huff as 1B possibilities probably makes Lowe a candidate to trade. Signing Story would make IKF a candidate.

I wonder what kind of package it would take to get Tyler Stephenson C from the Reds.
They need relief pitching bad, probably the only reason they haven’t won more games.
They may want to get rid of Moustakas as well due to his contract and underperformance this year.
I think Moose could bounce back and be a close to .800 OPS guy and play 3B for us until Jung is ready then move him to 2B or DH depending on what’s needed at the time.
We have the payroll flexibility as well to accommodate him.

At this stage I pass on the Moose. Doubt he would be better than Yonny is playing at the present. Also doubt they would want many relief pitchers we have in the BP. Moose will not be in our future and I don't see the need for him now but that is me.
