just an update form the Pens @ 13 discussion.
some out-there rankings, for sure.

Not sure I'm comfortable seeing the Nucks ranked among the elite.
the boys might just start to believe their press clippings.
However, better that than to be spending close to the cap and still be in tough for playoff hopes.
Toronto, Calgary, Habs, Wild, Rags, etc

hawks, wings, kings, caps, and canucks are the top 5?

i strongly disagree w/ putting the hawks and kings in there.. kings have loads of potential, but they aren't a top 5 team, yet. hawks lost half their team, i'll give em top 10, not top 5 though.. other 3 i'm fine w/ and they probably should be the top 3.. but the caps wont win anything until they can play defense

Kings in the top 5. I had them pegged as 11th. Well this means I need to ask for a week off work in April to go to the parade. These preseason poll are as good as gold.

The Kings are getting a lot of pub & for good reason. I still think they need another top 6 forward. I don't trust Ponikarovsky. I know Quick had a very good season last year but I think Bernier is their answer in goal. If not this year definately next.

The B's are in a great position. They have an opportunity to do something so few teams can do. Win the Stanley Cup & then have Bettman come to the podium & say the followinng words: Welcome to the 2011 NHL Draft. The Boston Bruins have the 1st pick. Boston you're up.

I've already put that choke behind me. The Bruins have a solid team this year and I can see them making a deep run in the playoffs. They won't blow a 3-0 series lead again. BOOK IT!!!

If the Sharks don't make a move for a top 4 defenseman, this is going to be a painful (regular) season.....as the playoffs are always painful. I think this is the Red Wings year to get back to their usual dominant ways. Vancouver could definitely get to the SC Finals this season if the hairball in net doesn't implode.

As the rosters currently stand though, I have the Kings edging out the Sharks for the division.

Top 5 in the West (again with current rosters) in my opinion goes something like this:

1.) Detroit
2.) Vancouver
3.) Los Angeles
4.) Chicago
5.) San Jose.

In Calgary, Sutter is quite happy with some of the young guys (i.e. he thinks they are pushing some vets for roster spots). On the one hand, that's good, but it could also mean that the vets aren't all that great to start with.

I look at the Canucks and I don't see many spots for a young guy to crack, and it doesn't make much sense for a young kid to only get 7-8 minutes a night on the 4th line.
