First US death of Coronavirus confirmed in King County, Washington - I was just there two weeks ago.

the man who died was at Evergreen Health Center in Kirkland. We went to the nordstrom rack, trader joes and chik fil a down the street from that hospital 2 weeks ago. My sister in law lives 6 kms away from it. The school my niece goes to in redmond sent out their first coronavirus related email friday afternoon. (My kids school in Burnaby sent their first email to parents january 24.)

The latest worldwide numbers show around 2.5 % mortality with covid. Thats 20 times more deadly than regular influenza.

I think it’s rate of spread is kinda nuts too - you get one guy on a ship with 2000 who came in contact with it and then 10%+ of the ship is ill.

Hopefully the warmer weather coming up works to kill it but, again, we could’ve just isolated China fucking immediately and likely avoided what’s now happening and we didn’t despite the fact this is exactly what happened last time - China wasn’t forthright with what was happening, it spread like crazy and people died needlessly instead of inconveniencing their economy which ended up happening anyway.
