This is the beginning of the end of the Dak Prescott era in Dallas. Maybe not this season, heck maybe not next, but this is the first move to eventually give Dallas the freedom/option to move off of Dak

He & Dak both have 2 years left on their deals. I “guess” we’ll see how much they want to extend Dak’s deal now?

I don’t think Lance is ever going to be a good NFL QB. But, it’s only a 4th, so worth the gamble. Grier wasn’t making the 53, now Lance will, so it costs them a roster spot too. I look forward to seeing him. He got hurt so early last year that I really didn’t see much of him

Hopefully he can be a decent back up for the 4th.

Dak has nothing to worry about.
If he does. Then he is sucking so bad we will be drafting a new guy anyways.

I liked the kid coming out of college from division 2 NDSU. Now that program has produced some players and the team could give some of the best teams in Div 1 fits and might beat some. It’s a solid move with upside and for a 4th round pick it’s well within the scope of rolling the dice on a high reward possibility for low cost. A long read but give‘s lots of background on Lance.

It is an interesting move. Possibly they did this as a plan b in case they don't extend Dak? Lance has accuracy issues, but so did Hurts early on. A low fourth rounder is not much to give up if Lance turns into something.

It's a great move. He isn't here to take Dak's job or even push Dak. Dak might be the league MVP this year and Lance is a #3. But Lance is 23 years old with a world of talent. Why not spend 2-3 years developing him and see what you have? Looks like that strategy might be working out in Green Bay with Jordan Love

I never thought Hurts would be any good either. Not saying Hurts is great,but he had a good season last year. Lance has a similar skill set. Like you say it's only a fourth. Not a huge gamble. .

what I want is for him to get more accurate and learn the NFL and become a reliable backup. 2020 was a disaster ,especially when they had to go to that third stringer. I think back to guys like Plunkett. Lance has a cannon so he could become a useful piece down the road.

He has every tool. I can't say he will be ready to be a solid starter in a few years. But I can't say he won't either

Rush just doesn't have that arm. He's good everywhere else but can't make throws you need to be successfull longterm. I didn't see this kid before play but I keep hearing he has a big arm.

Jones said he didn’t give a heads up to neither Dak nor McCarthy. Not a good look. Then to say “yea we should’ve drafted Jalen Hurts that’s my bad.” Just more media drama for the Cowboys.

Idk if y’all saw Dak’s presser, he seemed pretty upset about the move. He knows the writing is on the wall. Jerry traded for Lance to eventually be Dak’s successor not some journeyman backup QB.
